Well, the other artists have longer carrer da mariah.
I mean, the second decade for Mariah was already 00s, and the other artists that sold more than Mariah started in the 70s or 80s?

But i could remove Whitney from that cause she released few albums and i think Tina Turner too.

So Mariah still got a nice position even if she had mostly de 90s ( the time that usually to sell more albums)...

Well, even in the 90s, Mariah only had 3 successful albums in Europe (Music Box, Daydream and #1s) and only one of those was a blockbuster.

About the beginning of careers, Celine's mainstream career began in 1990 like Mariah's did. Tina has been around since the dinosaurs became extinct!

Hey,

this question is old but hasn't been answered yet:

Is it reasonable to have Daydream's Japanese sales @ 2.8 million ? Sony Music Japan gave figures for all of her albums but not for Daydream so we have to estimate its full sales.

All of her 90s albums sold around 600,000 imported copies.
Music Box: Sony Music Japan: 2.3 million (Oricon : 1,589,270 ) --> 710.000 imports
Merry Christmas: Sony Music Japan: 2.7 million (Oricon: 2,090,244) --> 610.00 imports

Can we also add 600.000 to Daydream's Oricon total???

It has sold 110.000 copies more than Merry Christmas via Oricon.

what the UK is for Madonna, Japan is for Mariah. Unimaginable that #1's has higher oricon sales in japan than what the album shipped in entire Europe.. and it shipped as much in Japan as what Daydream shipped in entire Europe. It's also the only album by Mariah with global first week sales of over 1m copies.. (and 1m come from Japan)

To release #1s in 1998 was one of Tommy Mottola's genius decisions. 8-)

The album has sold at least 3,6 million in Japan and an additional 1,6 million throughout the rest of Asia for a total of 5,2 million + in Asia. :o

Music Box [4,7 million +], Merry Christmas [3,7 million +] , Daydream [4,6 million] and Butterfly [2,8 million] were also giant hits in Asia.

i am very glad that #1's did such blockbuster numbers (selling 10m copies + outside the US).. that IS huge for someone as "local" as Mariah!

#1s:

Europe: 2.800.000 copies
Asia: 5.200.000 copies +

That's already 8 million + copies outside the USA.

^Luminator, thank you very much for all your work here!

Thank you for realizing that Mariah is not the best selling female artist of all time.

Many Mariah fans refuse to look at and understand the stats.

NO, it did not sale 1334 copies in the last 14 days it indeed sold 109 Digital copies 2 weeks ago and had a sharp gain in sales of 586% giving it a total of 748 copies last week.

Also physical sales are not taken into consideration
