now since there ARE so many artists and genres out there, you can find music that moves YOU specifically. It's all about the music, not the image i agree, but honestly i'm kind of glad that there is so much variety and not about what artist is the hit of the week.
If their music doesn't move me emotionally (whether to dance, make me feel inspired, or bring a chill to my spine) i'm not going to listen to it.
i actually pity the people back in the day when there were only a few artists that could ONLY listen to and that's why they're famous because they were the first "superstar" artists, but the question is...did they truly move people. For Example, i couldn't live back when the Beatles were big, i just don't like their music. And at the same token, there are ALOT of artists i like that aren't big and they have awesome music and move me, but since they're not on the mainstream radio and i show them to my friends they're not interested in them....until they hit the radio...
