Maroon 5 reclaims the top spot with "Payphone", after being knocked off by "Drive By" last week. This is Maroon 5's fifth non-consecutive week atop the pole position, second to One Direction's 7 week stint at the top with "What Makes You Beautiful". Lana Del Rey makes a comeback after dropping off from the chart a few months ago. Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" debuts at #9 - expect a jump next week due to the video release. Karise Eden, the winner of the Voice (Australia), manages to place two entries in this chart, one of which is in the top 10. One Direction continues to dominate the chart, with five entries. Delta Goodrem re-enters with "Sitting On Top Of The World", and her debut "Born To Try" manages to stay in the chart after its debut last week. Maroon 5's second single off their "Overexposed" album, "One More Night" debuts in the top 10 (after one day of plays). Expect the song and other album tracks to make a huge impact on the chart next week as I've been playing the album for the past two days.

Maroon 5 makes a massive debut on the chart with 14 songs off their "Overexposed" album and their biggest hit to date, "Moves Like Jagger". The last time an artist achieved this feat was around 4 months back when One Direction put 12 songs on the chart. Speaking of them, they maintain their position on the chart this week, placing 5 songs here. The video effect allowed Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" to bullet into the top 3. Bruno Mars' "It Will Rain" powers in at #2. A new #1 this week - "One More Night", the 2nd single from M5's latest record. It is Maroon 5's second single this year. With four songs in the top 10, M5 is easily the artist of the week. Céline Dion's beautiful "The Prayer" enters at #4 after a performance by Delta Goodrem and Rachael Leahcar this week on the Voice. In sixteen weeks, this is the first time "What Makes You Beautiful" falls out of the top 5. Beyoncé manages a re-entry with "If I Were A Boy", though this version features a remix by R. Kelly. This version is currently growing on me and may be my favourite version of the song in time to come. Karise Eden's début single, "You Won't Let Me", enters at #33. Christina Aguilera re-enters with "The Voice Within" and "Hurt" makes a new appearance on the chart. Both are arguably among Christina's best songs ever, in my opinion. Mariah Carey's "Through The Rain" finally leaves the chart after a phenomenal 23-week chart-run - probably an unmatched feat yet. Maroon 5 looks set to repeat their feat of placing more than 10 songs next week, but are they able to claim a third number-one?

Maroon 5 slays all the competition this week, and breaking a record in the process. This is the first time an artist has occupied four slots in the top 5 and seven slots in the top 10. With that done, Maroon 5 also claims a third number-one this year, becoming the first ever artist to achieve that since my chart's inception last year. Lana Del Rey's video premiere of "National Anthem" also gave the song a considerable boost back into the top 20. My chart's ever dominating Queen, Mariah Carey, comes back with ten chart entries this week. Lady Gaga debuts with her new song "Princess Die", a subtle reference to the late Princess Diana. Also, one of the finest voices in the R&B industry - Alicia Keys - also debuts her new song "New Day" at #30. After being announced as a single, Nicki Minaj's "Pound The Alarm" makes a small return at #50. With Adele's pregnancy being announced earlier this week, she looks set to return to this chart - and there doesn't seem to be an end to Maroon 5's dominance, who have 15 songs on the chart this week. One Direction manages a steady climb back into the top 5 with "What Makes You Beautiful", and Mariah's "Through The Rain" returns after a one week absence. Next week, expect to see Maroon 5 dominate again - but will it be the same as this week?

Maroon 5 are dominating here! This is like Britney on my chart circa March/April 2011! I really need to stop being lazy and check out Overexposed. I'll definitely make an effort to do so before next week. Unknown Maroon 5 tracks aside, I'm pleased to see "The Prayer" still going strong, one of my all-time faves from Ms. Dion. I'm obviously loving all the MC re-entries but I'm especially excited to see the entry for "Titanium". I hope the song grows on you even more and that it becomes, at the very least, a Top 10 hit here. Fantastic chart overall.

Mid-week chart update!

Possible contenders for No. 1 next week include:



Maroon 5 looks set to dominate this week's chart, but will face stiff competition from the queen of my charts, Mariah Carey as she looks ready to occupy 3 slots in my top ten. Mariah Carey has, surprisingly, more plays than Maroon 5 in the past four tracking days, with a comfortable 50-spin lead. Pink looks ready to make a high debut in my chart with her new single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)". Nicki Minaj may experience a steep rise with her new single "Pound The Alarm", though it doesn't look likely at the moment. Maroon 5 may dominate this week chart, but less than last week as at this point in time, they only have four tracks in the top 10 (compared to 7 last week). Which song from the above - "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)", "That's The Way It Is", "Wipe Your Eyes", or "Payphone" will top the chart? I will release the new chart on Saturday.
