Really? And Femme Fatale ended with the image of a flop... Though Britney didn't came from a No.-1-album and didn't have a successful lead single, plus Cheryl had the image of "UK's sweetheart" so 35k is really :-? ...

Just like Justin Bieber: I expected both Justin and Cheryl to sell between 80-100k... Wonder what's wrong with them!

:o :o :o WTF happened? Cheryl is UK's darling and this had a massive No1 hit?

Comparison to Britney's flop album is even worse. Suddenly FF doesn't look that bad. :o

FF was a flop in UK because it ended up selling less than 100k and a short and poor chart run... Not because its 1st week sales. And I'm sure Cheryl will pass that figure...
But yes... Cheryl is selling less and less with every album:
1million>500k>300k?
I even doubt this album can reach that and go Platinum.

No way JB would ever ever have sold 80-100k with this album in the UK, that's delirious thinking!

Cheryl's figures are... wow. Hadn't expected this. I almost wouldn't be surprised if Cowell wasn't actively blocking everyone he once had under his wing but not anymore : /

Her previous albums sold more than 100K in their first week and it was because they both came out on the Christmas period. That could explain why AMN is doing poor at the moment.

Still, sales are disappointing and I have to say it's really... unexpected because Cheryl's albums are always anticipated in the UK.

Anyway, I've noticed that sales are pathetic in the UK these days... :-?

@Nackar: How much do you think should Justin Bieber have sold if he topped what Cheryl Cole should've sold?

Agreed. There have been too many number 1 albums this year which have sold very little for that position.

Anyone have second week sales for CMN?

Messy Little Raindrops sold 52,403 copies in its 2nd week, so it dropped ~ 50% in its 2nd week.

Yes, it's very strange what's happening in the UK atm, especially as it's always known as the stronger music market (compared to the weaker US music market). What's also notable is the decreasing longevity for some albums... Under normal circumstances, we would see older albums selling 25-40k at No. 1 when there's been no high debut, while this year we saw 3 No.-1-albums selling less than 20k and another 5 with sales between 20k and 25k.

What are you talking about? I never said I thought Justin Bieber should be on top D :

As soon as I saw that he was predicted to outsell her I knew sales would be low, but I hadn't expected THIS low...

I was rather meaning how much would've been normal to expect A Million Lights assuming that Justin Bieber's album was No. 1 anyway...

Yes. Bieber's sales aren't great, but are in line with his standards, so it's ok.

But wow, I just found out Cheryl's sales and I'm shocked! Judging from her previous sales, I bet Cheryl and her record company thought she would have gone to #1 easily.

Why is Cheryl Cole's opening worse than Justin Bieber's?
My World 2.0 sold over 600k+ copies in the UK, while Messy Little Raindrops only reached 400k+ (with a 100k-opening, so was quite frontloaded)...

I guess it's mostly psychological. Bieber was a teeny sensation from the US, whereas Cheryl is always heralded as the UK's sweetheart (whether any non-fans actually think about her that way is second to the point) and if any of the two had more expectations riding on their performance, I'm guessing it'd be Cheryl.

Oh, by the way...

"A million lights" debuts at #96 in Spain this week. (which, in late June would mean like 70 copies sold... but, anyway).

3 words was #65, 2 weeks on chart and MLR didn't chart at all.

99 [100] - Call My Name

Sorry, not trolling, just finding this incredibly funny for no apparent reason.

Why trolling? It's chart-related and so on topic.
Trolling would mean just to come in this thread, say "Cheryl Cole is stupid/can't sing/sucks/whatever" and go again...
And if the song's chart performance is funny, you have all the rights in the world to say so, dear Nackar!
