This album deserved a #1.
Yes I said again because last year total sales seemed to somewhat hold around and even increase a little bit but this year we're back to -%10 losses weeklyNackar wrote:^ Again? I didn't know it ever stopped![]()
But no, in all seriousness, it's very sad to us chart-buffs and likely those in the industry who actually NEED the money. I think Adele's slayage gave people a false sense of growth for the market.
If that turns out to be true I would classify Believe as another MDNAstarshine90 wrote:I think chances are Believe isn't gonna sell over 1M in 2012.
Coz none of them have any hit singles in the US and no radio support. And the first week sales are based on the brief TV appearances, thus almost all the people who is interested in this new British boy/girl buy the album in the first week and then nobody cares.Timmy94 wrote:Andat Ed Sheeran: All those British newcomers debut very high at the moment and fall rapidely strangely... I wonder why they have so high declines, although this is limited to scene artists with a limited fanbase (Ed Sheeran, Rebecca Ferguson and the others don't have a fanbase yet) or highly expected follow-ups normally...
That's pretty epic actually.KevinScream wrote:-- 3 FIONA APPLE EPIC 67,122 --

Ohhh no. I wish it could be true, but he could even sell ~2mln copies by the end of he year. His albums have great longevity, so sadly, I expect quite stable sales.starshine90 wrote:I think chances are Believe isn't gonna sell over 1M in 2012.

This album deserved a #1.I love the album to death too, but thought it won't go higher than #78 or something on the charts because of zero airplay and its unconventional sound. And to see it in the Top 3, simply wow.
But it's worth bearing in mind that she was (and still is) a multiplatinum artist if you consider her record sales total.
I do not think it will happen.starshine90 wrote:I think chances are Believe isn't gonna sell over 1M in 2012.
But why do they directly debut high and don't do it like "normal" newcomers with no exposure and debut low but spend ages there? That would look far better than albums that debut in the top 10-30 and drop out of the top 100 soon...Lioha wrote:Coz none of them have any hit singles in the US and no radio support. >Timmy! The same question again and again! If an artist promotes an album on TV, then probably people will buy it that week. That's how media works...that's called promo...Timmy94 wrote:But why do they directly debut high and don't do it like "normal" newcomers with no exposure and debut low but spend ages there?
