I have my doubts that this will reach 1m.

The people that understand that RIAA certs are SHIPMENT sales only and NOT in any way tied to Soundscan, the faster none of you will think this is too early.

The album certainly shipped 1 million! It's too early to say whether future singles, promo and seasonal changes in sales will do for hard, at point sales.
"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!

Why justify? If there are 1 mio. copies shipped, the album "deserves" the Platinum certification even when there are still 500k copies get dusty in the shops  .

But kinda strange that the album is struggling to sell 4 times its opening sales considering:
1. they already haven't been that high (just 250k)
2. Pink Friday managed to sell 5 times its opening numbers (not much more but still) although most of its total came from the time BEFORE the successful singles were released
3. Starships is such a huge hit and could become her career's best-selling single soon

you can t be sure of that , for example FF didn t sold 1m ,and with the industry in bad situation , why spend money on certifications if the album is not profitable ..but good that nicki got another platinum

The thing is: Who knows whether it isn't profitable? Roman Reloaded could've sold relatively modest at the beginning and turn into a smasher in a half a year spending months in the top 10... Or not!
You can't say that an album is already stamped just because the beginning doesn't lift up to what it could.

There are many albums which take some time to reach their full potential, mostly debut albums but not only them!

for sure albums should justify their certifications, then where is the point ? , well maybe the album will end with 800,000 copies in us , but now 200,000 copies not sold is too much for a certification in this time, but 4 sure she need to work as she is doing to justify the certification and get the album closer the most she can to 1 m...

Does anyone know how many singles (including features) Nicki Minaj has sold so far in the US?

Starships is a dance pop song. By releasing it as the lead single of the album she alienated her loyal urban fanbase in order to appeal to some occasional buyers.

Act like a pop star - sell like a popstar, she's not the first to experience this, look what's happening to Usher right now.

+ I think the album title is a big problem too. That's as if Rihanna called her latest album LOUDer instead of Talk That Talk, people would think it's a re-release for sure.

So in many cases the music counts less than the image of an artist, which is the main thing that decides whether an album is hot or not  .

And people really think too much, otherwise they would realize that an album with 19 new songs can hardly be a re-release... What I wonder: With Roman Reloaded, did Nicki Minaj rather win more fans or lose more fans?
