The half of the year 2012 is already over, so it’s time to look which singles and which albums make it into the Top10 of the year-end charts so far.
For a little bit more excitement at the end of the year, i only show the 10 most successful singles / albums of this year so far without a placement. So you will know which ten singles / albums are the most successful, but you don’t know which of them is number one, number two and so on…
The 10 most successful Singles of this year so far
(alphabetical)
Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey is for sure one of the most successful singer this year. “Blue Jeans” is the third single of her debut album “Born To Die” and topped my Singles Charts fore one week so far. Since this isn’t that huge, it’s even bigger that “Blue Jeans” is already 22 weeks in the Top20.
Born To Die by Lana Del Rey
Another Lana-Song. “Born To Die” is the second single of her album and already debuted at number one last year and was at number one for incredible ten weeks, eight of them in this year! Is this enough to hit number one on the year end charts too?
Euphoria by Loreen
Swedish-Singer Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the dance-anthem “Euphoria”. While it already peaked at number two on my charts a few weeks before the ESC, it managed to top the charts right after the Show.
Friends by Aura Dione feat. Rock Mafia
Aura Dione’s radio-friendly “Friends” is the second single of her second album “Before The Dinosaurs”. While the first already hit number one, “Friends” also debuted right on the top.
Give Me All Your Luvin’ by Madonna feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.
The Comeback of the Queen of Pop was well anticipated, so it was to expect that the first single of her new album will be a big hit and that’s what happened with “Give Me All Your Luvin’” (at least on my Charts).
Starships by Nicki Minaj
It seems that Nicki is currently one of the biggest stars in the world. Not only as a guest vocalist on Madonna’s “Give Me All Your Luvin”, but also as a solo rapper/singer. “Starships”, the first worldwide single of her second album, is her first solo single with a great success in Europe and since “Super Bass” was also a number one hit on my Charts there was no doubt that this big hit would go to number one too.
Turn Me On by David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj
Another Nicki-Track, another competist for a good placement on the year end charts, maybe even number one? “Turn Me On” was one of the many singles of David Guetta’s “Nothing But The Beat” and also one of the most successful.
Video Games by Lana Del Rey
The third single from Lana inside the current mid year Top 10 is her first single “Video Games”. While hitting number one for three weeks last year, Lana’s melancholic smash hit showed amazing longevity on my charts and is still inside the Top10.
Where Have You Been by Rihanna
Rihanna was always a hit-maker, so it’s not a surpise to see at least one of her songs inside the current Top10.
Zero Gravity by Kerli
Estonian singer-songwriter Kerli is currently really unpopular in most countries. While her first single “Walking On Air” was in some charts in Europe back in 2008, her latest singles “Army Of Love” and “Zero Gravity” only charted on the US Dance Charts. That’s a little sad since I love Kerli and at least for me personally I’m not surprised to see her in the Top10.
The 10 most successful Albums of this year so far
(alphabetical)
21 by Adele
I think you can call Adele a monster – a charts monster! She’s still on top and sells like no other artist and that after nearly one and a half year. While “21” was my number one of last year end charts it’s really great for her for being still in the Top10 of this mid year charts. But honestly, number one seems to be unlikely!
Before The Dinosaurs by Aura Dione
With “Friends” being in the current mid year charts it’s not a big surprise to see Aura Dione’s album “Before The Dinosaurs” here too. With the third single “In Love With The World” being released in the next few weeks there’s no doubt that she will get a high placement on the final year end charts.
Born To Die by Lana Del Rey
Charts-empress Lana Del Rey is naturally also on the mid year charts with her first album “Born To Die”. Released in january, it always stayed in the Top5 so far and with three singles in the mid year singles charts there’s a big chance for her to being that what Adele was last year.
Eurovision Song Contest 2012 Compilation
This year, the Eurovision Song Contest was as successful as never before on my charts. Many singles entered the Top20 and some of them were really successful (Ivi Adamou and Loreen had both a number one single, Greta Salome & Jonsi were in the Top3 for one week). Thanks to this single-success, the Compilation were very successful too and topped the Charts for four weeks. Enough to top the year end charts too?
Imaginaerum by Nightwish
Another monster album. Nightwish were always big on my charts. Their most successful single “Amaranth” was on top for eleven weeks back in 2007/2008 – that’s nearly unbelieveble and an all-time record! Their best of “Walking In The Air – The Greatest Ballads” was number four of the year end charts 2011 and with “Imaginaerum” being their current album there’s no doubt that the finnish band will be very high on my year end charts 2012.
lovestrong. by Christina Perri
A little surprise. Thanks to the hits “Jar Of Hearts” and “Arms” Christina Perri’s debut album “lovestrong.” is also in the current Top10.
Nothing But The Beat by David Guetta
Another album to expect high in the year end charts is David Guetta’s “Nothing But The Beat”. Thanks to hits like “Where Them Girls At” and “Titanium” it already ranked at number 23 on the year end charts 2011. With “Turn Me On” being David’s greatest hit so far it’s fairly clear to hit Top10 this year.
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded by Nicki Minaj
With some hits on the singles charts there was no doubt for Nicki to being also very high with her current album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”. But will she even get the top spot?
Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection by Katy Perry
With “Teenage Dream” Katy has one of the most successful albums ever. So it was clear that the Re-Release “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” is also very high this year.
Tresspassing by Adam Lambert
The last album is “Trespassing” by American Idol Star Adam Lambert. While his first album “For Your Entertainment” was a hit too, “Trespassing” is his first number one album.
