@ GoodBoyGoneBad:
yeah, that was to expect! After the huge success of Starships on my charts it wasn't a surprise that Pound The Alarm debuted that high :D

@ Haribo:
you should give it a listen! i hope you will like it :)

@ PosziMC2:
Yeah... i was so happy to hear that it's a single now! :D

@ Tiger:
i knew you would be sad if those ESC tracks are falling that hard... but i still like them. It's just that there are so much other good songs...

@ Gagich:
i'm sure you mean Katy & Nicki? ;)
Maybe Katy can rise again next week... the video is just wonderful! :D

It is always # | Last Week | Time In | Highest Position - Artist - Song or Album

After the amazing debut last week, Nicki Minaj holds the first spot with her latest single “Pound The Alarm” for another week. With this, “Pound The Alarm” is Nicki’s second song after “Starships” which is more than one week on top (“Super Bass” and “Turn Me On” were both only one week on top).

Charts-empress Lana Del Rey scores her fourth Top3-Hit in a row with the newest single “Summertime Sadness”. The other three singles – “Video Games”, “Born To Die” and “Blue Jeans” – were all at least one week on top and two of them are still in the Top10.

Also new in are Coldplay and Rihanna. Their duet “Princess Of China” debuts directly into the Top5 of the Singles Top20. For Coldplay it’s their second Top5 song after Paradise, which peaked at number four. For Rihanna it’s her 17th Top5 song!

@ Haribo:
I hope you like it ;)
Yeah, the competition for Wide Awake was very strong this week. But at least it 'surpassed' Evanescence

Originally i'm from Bern and made my education in a bilingual company but now i live in Zurich and since no one is talking French here my French is very bad... at least i can say "je ne parle pas français" and "je ne comprends pas", that's enough for me :)

@ GoodBoyGoneBad:
Glad you like Summertime Sadness!
Yes the video for National Anthem is epic... and yes, it's likely that it will hit my charts next week ;)

@ Belpop:
Glad you like the chart!

Yeah i know. I hope they release NA in the german-speaking countries too and SS in the other countries too...

@ Tiger:
Good to see you like them!
Well, i don't know why but i'm so obsessed with her since the release of the album and her songs never get tired! :)

I see! Too bad you can't speak it! But yes, what you know in French is... accurate and perfect to answer any French questions! 8-)

Primadonna is really growing on me, like the whole album does. Maybe it can climb next week again. The same with Blown Away :)

@ Haribo:
Haha yeah :)
Well, honestly i'm sure there are still some words in french which i know, but mainly only the 'standard' things :) It's just a very difficult language in my opinion and since i don't use it i forget nearly all words...

The half of the year 2012 is already over, so it’s time to look which singles and which albums make it into the Top10 of the year-end charts so far.

For a little bit more excitement at the end of the year, i only show the 10 most successful singles / albums of this year so far without a placement. So you will know which ten singles / albums are the most successful, but you don’t know which of them is number one, number two and so on… :)

The 10 most successful Singles of this year so far
(alphabetical)

Image
Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey is for sure one of the most successful singer this year. “Blue Jeans” is the third single of her debut album “Born To Die” and topped my Singles Charts fore one week so far. Since this isn’t that huge, it’s even bigger that “Blue Jeans” is already 22 weeks in the Top20.

Image
Born To Die by Lana Del Rey

Another Lana-Song. “Born To Die” is the second single of her album and already debuted at number one last year and was at number one for incredible ten weeks, eight of them in this year! Is this enough to hit number one on the year end charts too?

Image
Euphoria by Loreen

Swedish-Singer Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the dance-anthem “Euphoria”. While it already peaked at number two on my charts a few weeks before the ESC, it managed to top the charts right after the Show.

Image
Friends by Aura Dione feat. Rock Mafia

Aura Dione’s radio-friendly “Friends” is the second single of her second album “Before The Dinosaurs”. While the first already hit number one, “Friends” also debuted right on the top.

Image
Give Me All Your Luvin’ by Madonna feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.

The Comeback of the Queen of Pop was well anticipated, so it was to expect that the first single of her new album will be a big hit and that’s what happened with “Give Me All Your Luvin’” (at least on my Charts).

Image
Starships by Nicki Minaj

It seems that Nicki is currently one of the biggest stars in the world. Not only as a guest vocalist on Madonna’s “Give Me All Your Luvin”, but also as a solo rapper/singer. “Starships”, the first worldwide single of her second album, is her first solo single with a great success in Europe and since “Super Bass” was also a number one hit on my Charts there was no doubt that this big hit would go to number one too.

Image
Turn Me On by David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj

Another Nicki-Track, another competist for a good placement on the year end charts, maybe even number one? “Turn Me On” was one of the many singles of David Guetta’s “Nothing But The Beat” and also one of the most successful.

Image
Video Games by Lana Del Rey

The third single from Lana inside the current mid year Top 10 is her first single “Video Games”. While hitting number one for three weeks last year, Lana’s melancholic smash hit showed amazing longevity on my charts and is still inside the Top10.

Image
Where Have You Been by Rihanna

Rihanna was always a hit-maker, so it’s not a surpise to see at least one of her songs inside the current Top10.

Image
Zero Gravity by Kerli

Estonian singer-songwriter Kerli is currently really unpopular in most countries. While her first single “Walking On Air” was in some charts in Europe back in 2008, her latest singles “Army Of Love” and “Zero Gravity” only charted on the US Dance Charts. That’s a little sad since I love Kerli and at least for me personally I’m not surprised to see her in the Top10.

The 10 most successful Albums of this year so far
(alphabetical)

Image
21 by Adele

I think you can call Adele a monster – a charts monster! She’s still on top and sells like no other artist and that after nearly one and a half year. While “21” was my number one of last year end charts it’s really great for her for being still in the Top10 of this mid year charts. But honestly, number one seems to be unlikely!

Image
Before The Dinosaurs by Aura Dione

With “Friends” being in the current mid year charts it’s not a big surprise to see Aura Dione’s album “Before The Dinosaurs” here too. With the third single “In Love With The World” being released in the next few weeks there’s no doubt that she will get a high placement on the final year end charts.

Image
Born To Die by Lana Del Rey

Charts-empress Lana Del Rey is naturally also on the mid year charts with her first album “Born To Die”. Released in january, it always stayed in the Top5 so far and with three singles in the mid year singles charts there’s a big chance for her to being that what Adele was last year.

Image
Eurovision Song Contest 2012 Compilation

This year, the Eurovision Song Contest was as successful as never before on my charts. Many singles entered the Top20 and some of them were really successful (Ivi Adamou and Loreen had both a number one single, Greta Salome & Jonsi were in the Top3 for one week). Thanks to this single-success, the Compilation were very successful too and topped the Charts for four weeks. Enough to top the year end charts too?

Image
Imaginaerum by Nightwish

Another monster album. Nightwish were always big on my charts. Their most successful single “Amaranth” was on top for eleven weeks back in 2007/2008 – that’s nearly unbelieveble and an all-time record! Their best of “Walking In The Air – The Greatest Ballads” was number four of the year end charts 2011 and with “Imaginaerum” being their current album there’s no doubt that the finnish band will be very high on my year end charts 2012.

Image
lovestrong. by Christina Perri

A little surprise. Thanks to the hits “Jar Of Hearts” and “Arms” Christina Perri’s debut album “lovestrong.” is also in the current Top10.

Image
Nothing But The Beat by David Guetta

Another album to expect high in the year end charts is David Guetta’s “Nothing But The Beat”. Thanks to hits like “Where Them Girls At” and “Titanium” it already ranked at number 23 on the year end charts 2011. With “Turn Me On” being David’s greatest hit so far it’s fairly clear to hit Top10 this year.

Image
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded by Nicki Minaj

With some hits on the singles charts there was no doubt for Nicki to being also very high with her current album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”. But will she even get the top spot?

Image
Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection by Katy Perry

With “Teenage Dream” Katy has one of the most successful albums ever. So it was clear that the Re-Release “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” is also very high this year.

Image
Tresspassing by Adam Lambert

The last album is “Trespassing” by American Idol Star Adam Lambert. While his first album “For Your Entertainment” was a hit too, “Trespassing” is his first number one album.

It is always # | Last Week | Time In | Highest Position - Artist - Song or Album

Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen are both back with their new collaboration “Good Time”, which debuts directly on top this week. With this, Carly scores her second #1 song after her debut single “Call Me Maybe” (currently #16). For Owl City, “Good Time” is his first #1 and third Top20 song after “Fireflies” (peak #5) and “Galaxies” (peak #3).

While Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” loses one place in it’s second week, her other single “National Anthem” crashes into the Top5 thanks to the release of it’s official video. So this week, there are five singles from Lana in the Top20 and four of them are still in the Top10!

Katy Perry’s new single “Wide Awake” gets a new peak and also gets GOLD. That’s already the sixth song of her “Teenage Dream”-era which got at least GOLD (all singles except “California Gurls” and “Part Of Me”, “E.T.” got PLATIN).

Last weeks number one on both charts (Nicki’s “Pound The Alarm” on the Singles Top20 and Amy’s “Life In A Beautiful Light” on the Album Top10) tumbles down three places to number four. While Nicki’s former number one hit “Starships” is out of the Top20 for the first time and the new single “Pound The Alarm” loses some places, it’s still possible for her album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” to score another week on top of the album charts.

Feels like #2 is going to be "Wide Awake" peak. Glad to see "Born to Die" and "Call Me Maybe"! You stan hard for Lana!

Hello, nice chart. Is that a 2012 release of Kerli?

I'm missing Jessie Ware and Selah Sue in your list ;)

@ Haribo:
Yes, it looks like Katy will loose some places next week. The funny thing is, since it's second week on my charts it was every week a contender for the number one but it lost this competition...

and yes, i love Lana  Her album is the best 2012 release so far...

@ Tiger:
I know :D
Loreen can rise next week eventually due to the video release :D

Also great to see you like Rebecca's song :D

@ GoodBoyGoneBad:
Glad you like it! Eventually it will rise next week..

@ Belpop:
Thanks! Yes, that's her latest (buzz) single, released in March this year. But i doubt you will like it, she makes now dance pop and no longer the type music she made back in the 'Love Is Dead'-era...

Well, Jessie Ware and Selah Sue aren't bad, but just not as good for entering the Top20...
