Exactly. You can't compare LS's success to RTW's at all. While LS sold much more, it's still a safe and lousy song, while RTW remains a top notch song, no matter the chart performance.

After seeing the whole thing I can give some more comments.

Britney's tribute did end up silly cause her announcement and worshiping of Beyonce was longer than her acceptance speech. :-?

BTW, did Beyonce sing live?

Loved Adele's performance and Bruno did amazing tribute to Amy. The whole tribute was very nice and thank God for once MTV did not rush things as usual. Amy got a deserving tribute.

Chris Brown's miming circus performance was boring. Wow,a guy on suspenders turning around, big deal, sing please.

The funniest moment was that rapper The Creator or whatever's his name winning best new act and coming out with a huge group and some woman from his team having an OMG moment and crying in the stands. I'm sure many gifs were made of this.

He's dancing his ass off and could barely sing. It would've been a mess if he had sung live.

Let me put it this way:
LS: a hit and a lousy song
RTW: wasn't a hit, but it's a very risky and amazing song

That's why: RTW>LS any day of the week. Get it now?

I'd like to add something to The Lazy Song vs Run The World choreography that was the original thing in question and in fact RTW is more deserving. It pushes boundaries by incorporating style not typical for dance videos and don't believe people who say it's an easy choreography. I like how TLZ shows the importance of original concept and it feels fresh but videos like this usually don't win.
Crazy In Love [2003], Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) [2008], Schoolin' Life [2011]
