I'm really enjoying the album on first listen. I haven't been as keen on the last two albums as I was on the first two, which I played A LOT. It's making me want to re-listen to the last two again again!

It's #1 in the UK midweeks! :D

Linkin Park set to knock Justin Bieber off the top of the Official Albums Chart

According to today’s Official Chart Update, Linkin Park are on course to knock Justin Bieber off the top of the Official Albums Chart on Sunday.

The Los Angeles-based band, who released their fifth studio album, Living Things, on Monday, have taken an early lead in the race to this week’s Number 1. And, if they can maintain it going into the weekend, it will give Linkin Park their sixth Top 10 album and third UK Number 1. However, they face tough competition from fellow US rockers Maroon 5 whose latest release, Overexposed (Number 2), is a mere 5,000 copies behind them on today’s Official Chart Update. The Official Charts Company expects it to be a closely fought battle right up to Sunday’s final whistle.

Buoyed by his performance at Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend, Jay-Z’s collaboration with Kanye West, Watch The Throne, climbs 17 places from Number 20 to Number 3, while Justin Bieber’s Believe slides three places to Number 4. Ed Sheeran’s +, which has sold over 1.2 million copies since its release last September, completes this week’s Top 5.

New Entries

In addition to Linkin Park’s Living Things (1) and Maroon 5’s Overexposed (2), there are six other new entries in today’s Official Albums Chart Update.

Flo Rida, who shot to the top of the Official Streaming Chart earlier this week with his latest track Whistle, is new in at Number 8 with his fourth album, Wild Ones. The Wildhearts’ frontman Ginger could score his first Top 10 solo album on Sunday with new release 100 Percent looking set to debut at Number 9.

Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky is on course to for his debut UK Top 40 album with new release, 2, currently sitting at Number 21, with The Levellers’ Static On The Airwaves one place behind at Number 22. Canadian indie rockers Metric are at Number 24 with Synthetica, while The Offspring’s Days Go By is at Number 27.

This week’s new entries are completed by French metallers Gojira’s L'enfant Sauvage (which translates as 'The Wild Child') is at 28, while Jedward’s Young Love is at 33

Linkin Park dethrone Justin Bieber from the top of the Official Albums Chart
01/07/2012
By Lauren Kreisler

Linkin Park have beaten off competition from Maroon 5’s Overexposed to dethrone Justin Bieber from the top of the Official Albums Chart.

Living Things today gives the Los Angeles-based band their sixth Top 10 album and third UK Number 1. Though Maroon 5 managed to close up the gap since Wednesday’s Official Chart Update, Linkin Park end the week 3,000 copies ahead.

After scoring their debut Number 1 single on the Official Singles Chart last week with Payphone, Maroon 5 debut at Number 2 on this week’s Official Albums Chart with their fourth album, Overexposed. Ed Sheeran’s + climbs four places from last week’s Number 7 to this week’s Number 3, while Justin Bieber slips from 1 to Number 4 with Believe. Emeli Sande‘s Our Version Of Events completes this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 5.

New Entries and high climbers

In addition to Linkin Park’s Living Things (1) and Maroon 5’s Overexposed (2), there are four other new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
Flo Rida is new in at Number 8 with his fourth album, Wild Ones, featuring the smash hit track of the same. The Wildhearts’ frontman Ginger lands at Number 27 today with new release 100 Percent, while Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky scores a debut Top 40 album with 2, ending the week at Number 29. The Levellers’ Static On The Airwaves complete today’s Top 40 new entries.

Fresh from their performance last week at Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend – the BBC’s biggest ever outdoor show - Jay-Z’s collaboration with Kanye West, Watch The Throne, climbs 13 places from Number 20 to Number 7. But it is kings of Manchester baggy, The Stone Roses, who are the week’s highest climbers; their Very Best Of collection jumps 17 places to Number 21. The band have been at centre stage this week after a series of victorious and long-awaited reunion shows in Manchester’s Heaton Park.

I'm impressed with this album. Their last album is the only one of theirs I haven't really liked so far.

This album is truly amazing. It might be my favourite from them ( hesitating with Hybrid Theory and Meteora, though... ). I find it way better than A Thousand Suns ( which still remains great, by the way... )

There are so many songs I want to see as singles, especially Skin To Bone and Castle Of Glass. Those two are outstanding. :o
