Before you begin to peruse my weekly US chart analysis, I want to ask a small favour from you this time.

In an attempt to have a separate forum for the factual chart stuff (like my analyses and Chart Histories), I've posted a poll with the proposition The Chart Chart Forum should be split up asap
This would leave the Chart Chat forum to the fantasy chart posters again.

You have to be a registered member to vote, so please, if you haven't done so yet, register and vote.

I'd like a 3-digit number of votes (so far, after 4 days, only 32 members have voted), which should be easy, considering the average number of visits (about a 1,000) to the weekly chart analysis.

Thanks in advance and sorry for your trouble! I can ensure that, if enough people respond, chart service will be resumed later tonight.

I guess you don't understand one thing Han... 1000 visits is farrrrrr from 1000 users! If a single user comes to this thread 10 times, 10 visits will be of just one user, and Ii speak for myself... every week I visit the chart analysis much more than 10 times! if every people that come in here visit this thread 10 times, so you will have 100 users visiting the thread, so it's a little bit odd that you expect a "3-digit" number. I hope you understand what I'm saying

Many visits are not members, if you search the web you can find that the weekly analysis are a source for many boards. I saw your numbers and charts in many different boards (Britney Spears, Usher, Pink Floyd, Beatles and the list goes on...) and they only want the info for his fauvorite artists, they're not members, only casual visits.
The time of the year is not the "best" for a poll, I think that one month/15 days ago we got more members searching in the forum than now, but over 50 different people voting is a good number in only 4 days, you can see many more votes in the following days.

A bare listing would defeat the purpose of an analysis.
When I post something, I want it to be unique - not to be found anywhere else on the net.

With regard to the 'issue': it's not the trouble to compile the analysis or the avalanche of personal top 1000's on the forum.
It's all about the environment of the forum, in which I'm not feeling comfortable lately. A number of people (among which the most popular) of the 'other' group have slagged off the analysis and other factual posts.
Yes I know, they say they're finding my stuff 'useful', but I'm feeling kind of responsible.

I really think the two groups of posters (simplified: fantasy vs. factual chart stuff) are so different and incompatible, they should be separated into different forums.
The 'pure pop' and 'rock/indie' fans have also their own forums, so why not the above two groups?

The 'trick' I've used here to get people to vote is cunning and a bit lame, I know, but you have to do what you have to do. :D

And, if there are no changes and I can't find a outlet similar to this place, I'll continue posting my stuff on UKMix -- if you all want it.

I don't mean to slag off the people who conjure up and post their personal or prediction charts. I have nothing against these 'fictional' charts. For years, I maintained my own charts on a daily basis. It was a great aid for buying records!

The "US Singles Chart" should actually be called "US Singles & Tracks Chart", since it is the Billboard Hot 100, which is based on mainly airplay (roughly 90%) and singles (10%).
Digital sales will probably be included in a couple of months.

The "Top 40 Tracks" is based on airplay on Top 40 radio. These stations play only records which are popular and charted or are likely to chart.

I posted the first analysis in the summer of 2003 (or was it 2002?) on the defunct Dotmusic chart forum.
Someone asked for the chart run of Shania's 'Come on over' album, which I posted.
the next day, someone else wanted all Kylie's chart runs, which I posted and since then I never stopped uploading these strange number sequences.

Words like 'fantasy' and 'fictional' imply that a personal chart is not a *real* chart - which is definitely not true. While official charts reflect the tastes of a mass of people, a personal chart shows what one person likes and that is definitely not fictional. Not at any rate less real than an official chart. They just represent different things.

What about the first post, in which I explained my actions. I even apologized beforehand.
Every week, since January, I post these free unique detailed analyses.
Now I ask you to do something for me, which takes 2 minutes max, and now you tell me I "shouldn't act like this" ?

When I said my analyses attract about 1,000 visits weekly, I meant BOTH analyses (US and UK). And the number of 1,000 is fairly conservative - it's often about 1600 to 2000 visits.
So, taking an average of 5 visits per person per analysis (10 is way too high, I quote you: "a lot of people come here only to see your chart analysis"), that's about 180 people.
If half of them had voted by now, the 3 digit vote number would have been a fact.

Next time, please don't be so patronizing.
