One song each day this week starting with...

30. Lead The Way
Glitter
This song wasn’t initially in my top 60 but over recent weeks it has grown on me considerably and recent events have led me to relate to it. It’s a shame it’s sandwiched between two of the worst songs on Glitter (and of her career), but I suppose it makes it more appealing. I’m glad this was her last song with Walter Afanasieff; their partnership ended on a high.

"Lead The Way" is definitely too low. For me, it's the only song that made Glitter worth recording. It's just flawless and the things that song does to my heart...

"Lead The Way" is an exceptional track and is far and away the best track to ever come off from "Glitter".

I'm glad it ranked in your countdown at #30 as I remember how much you dislike this song during the MC Album Tracks Survivor. Great to see it has grown on you a little.

 Exactly! I still don't think it should have been in the top 10 but well done to it.

29. Petals
Rainbow
Petals is one of Mariah’s most personal songs and really marks the end of her time at a label she was at odds with. It starts with the sound of a storm and ends leading into Rainbow (Interlude) which fits with what she says about finding a rainbow at the end of every storm. I thought that was a nice touch. I enjoy how understated the vocals are in this song, it adds to the person feel.

Those I haven't commented on, I have no time for.

60. Don't Forget About Us
- Overrated, but passable.

57. Say Somethin’
- Love this!

53. Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)
- Overrated, but passable.

52. My All
- Overrated, but passable.

50. I Want To Know What Love Is
- Standout from Memoirs.

49. Whenever You Call
- Underrated, I prefer the duet over the solo but both are pretty great. McKnight adds a new dimension.

46. I Am Free
- Absolutely, breathtaking track - this would be a career defining moment for most other artists, but for Mariah - its one of many diamonds.

45. Hero
- All-time classic.

44. Make It Happen
- Overrated, but passable.

43. Outside
- Butterfly is one of the most overrated albums in music history, but this is one of her all-time great songs.

42. I Wish You Well
- Overrated, but passable.

41. I'll Be There
- Overrated, but passable.

40. When You Believe
- Overrated, but passable.

39. Music Box
- This is what I'm talking about! Absolute diamond in her catalog.

36. Touch My Body
- Good comeback.

33. Honey
- Overrated, but passable.

32. Someday
- Overrated, but passable.

30. Lead The Way
- Alright song, overrated for that one big note.

Well, most of her Butterfly onwards tracks are overrated.

In fact, if you look up the definition of overrated in the dictionary, it says "Mariah Carey's entire fecking catalog circa Butterfly-Memoirs".

28. Mine Again
The Emancipation Of Mimi
I remember listening to this for the very first time. I was staring out of my window on a warm day listening to The Emancipation Of Mimi for the first time. I was enjoying it so far, apart from Shake It Off which I thought was average, and then this came on and I was amazed at how good her voice was. It was the first time I thought, “she’s back” and the first song I immediately went back to listen to first. I prefer other songs from the album now, but I’ll always remember how I loved this before. James Poyser really knows how work with her voice, she should work with him more.

27. When I Saw You
Daydream
I know many fans aren’t particularly of this song and regard it as the weakest on Daydream but I couldn’t disagree more. The simple lyrics can be forgiven because it’s one of the greatest vocal performances she has ever recorded. It always has and always will be one of my favourites. It takes me back to the 90s and everyone loves a little nostalgia.

I will have to try and check out some of them, however, I'm definitely in the minority with this but for me I find Mariah's music a little boring, not all of it as some song's I love. However, she totally makes up for it with her incredible voice and I have so much respect for her because of her talent.

I agree it can be boring at times. It depends how you listen to it. You should definitely check out all my top 25, I don't think there's much there that could bore you. :P
