I m waiting for the new Graf to shine.

Serena made hard work of that, she should have won in two sets! Still glad she's through and outlasted Sharapova. I can't believe how few 'big names' there are in the WTA now...

Does anyone know about what changes in rank might happen etc?

kerber has a great shot at getting up to #6 after Wimbledon.

Anyway wow, 2 German girls in the quarterfinals. I'm so shocked. Ever since Graf retired Germany had no real star to shine.. but it looks like Kerber is the real deal these days.

Kerber (new world ranked #7)
Lisicki
Kohlschreiber and
Mayer

Never before have 4 German players reached the quarters in one Grand Slam at the same time. :o 8-) 8-) 8-)

Since Kerber and Lisicki play against each other.. 1 German gal will make the semis as well (at least) <3

Germany douze points. After almost a dead decade, German women tennis comes back to life. wonderful.

I think Azarenka might get her Number 1 ranking back

German #1 and world #8 Kerber defeats German #2 and world #15 and stands in the semis at Wimbledon for the first time in her career. It's magical now.

Gutted Del Potro lost :( Aww well. Can't complain too much I've still got Federer, Murray and Tsonga to root for.

Latest odds:
S Williams - evens
V Azarenka 9/4
A Kerber 5/1
A Radwanska 13/2

The Men:
N Djokovic 4/7
A Murray 4/1
R Federer 5/1
JW Tsonga 8/1

Can see Serena winning again on Saturday

Will be chanting for Murray but never see him winning any Grand Slam title soon. He hasn't good enough quality to beat one of the three powerhouses.

Congrats to Serena and Agnieszka on reaching the final. Can't see anything but a Serena win on Saturday.

I really hope Radwanska wins on Saturday, but sadly I think Serena's power and aces will put paid to that

Well done to Serena to getting to another final but it would be nice for someone like Agnieszka to win here, do like how cleverly she works the points considering her lack of a power shot compared to the big guns like Serena and Maria

I hope we don't get yet another dismal women's final, we are overdue a decent one

I hope Serena wins, for me she's a true champion. A lot of the other girls won't even be around at 28 let alone be in finals in their 30's.

Whereas Serena is in form, no one can beat her which is a bit disappointing.

Considering her injury and illness problems, it is quite remarkable she managed to come back and do this!! But unlike some players she and her sister have not suffered burn out from playing far too many matches (which is why Caroline and Dinara got to wotld #1, though Caroline is still a good player)

There have been a lot of different grand slam winners in recent years, but when Serena and Venus are fit they are difficult to beat (really disappointed Venus went out so early)

There is always this debate (that arises from situations like what we're talking about).

Venus and Serena get a lot of criticism and hate directed towards them when they just don't play the whole tour and then can come along and be a real contender when they do play.

I get that people think them neglecting the tour is 'arrogant' but in reality, it's a double edged sword, they don't play as much as the other girls which makes them less match ready, slow to hit their best form etc which may be why they can sometimes be flaky.

For me, however, these girls and a few others are the real superstars of the tour. I can imagine that if they did play as the other girls did, constantly, they may have even won more yet their careers may be over around now. So many of these current girls i.e. the massive influx of girls that get to number 1 usually based on points yet never show consistent dominant play which should be expected from a number 1 in sany sport, are the problem. To me, it seems that Venus, Serena and Maria Sharapova (to name a few) are after a real legacy i.e. big grand slams rather than playing everything they can find to rack up the points.

I can't see many people remembering Kvitova, Ivanovic, Lisicki, Azarenka etc etc in 5 years (unless they start hitting a real top seeded form).

serena belongs in the elite group of superstars in the female scene (like Hingis, Davenport, Seles, Graf, Evert, Navratilova etc) because they won so many major titles and dominated so effortlessly when they were at their peaks.

I hope Serena nothes her 5th wimbeldon title on saturday.
