once again, their new music direction betrayed themselves :-?
Except for the part where Chris' album is almost universally panned by critics, whereas Usher's is one of his best reviewed yet...

But yeah, I guess the change in direction is in a way partly responsible for both.

"Strip" peaked at #3 on Urban 7467 months ago and it was a mixtape track, "Turn Up The Music" was very frontloaded. The other singles aren't doing good either, though looks like "Don't Wake Me Up" is re-climbing again.
Yeah, he doesn't have an album selling smash yet.

I expected the sales to be worse actually. As long as he gets that #1 album. *shrugs*

Were the Amazon sales already counted?
If yes, that would be very bad for BOB's Strange Clouds: It would be ridiculous if his album was sold for 99 cents and still it wouldn't return to the top 20...

The Beach Boys' album was included in the 99 cent sale and isn't in the top 50 :o

Seriously, with albums being sold for 0.99$, I would expect sales of 100k+ for each of them. With a price so low, people turn off their mind and just see the price and get fascinated by it, buy without thinking!
Considering that, all those albums that were discounted are still selling relatively normal like you'd expect after a single's success or a live performance somewhere...

Nothing says "industry in crisis" like not being able to give the product away practically for free :o. I assume this tally must reflect the Amazon deal - why else would Jason Mraz, Florence, the Wanted and so on have suddenly shot up the chart? But if it does where on earth are some of the other albums that were included in that deal?

Yes, as long as the album has been out for more than 4 weeks, they do.

I don't know how hits works but there album has been out since June 1st so this would make its 4th weeks on the chart, I think? so those 99cent sales wouldn't count I believe

The Amazon albums were not sold for 99 cents.

They were sold for $1.99.

They were sold for 99 cents. In the beginning, they were $1.99. Amazon corrected the price to 99 cents. So they were sold for 99 cents.

I know about this... because I bought several albums for $1.99. However, Amazon sent me an email and informed me that it was an error. They corrected it and gave me the credit for the amount that they overcharged.

I already wrote about it in the Carrie-thread: This is her fastest dropping album so far and at the moment it seems likely that her downward trend when it comes to albums sales would go on (7 mio. - 3 mio. - 2 mio.), people aren't clicking with her music this era - seems like they are missing something this time. Maybe Blown Away (single) could turn it all around?
