Went to the Hackney weekend the other day and saw Leona Lewis (guest spot from Wretch 32), Rizzle Kicks, Example, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Jay-Z (with guest spots from Rihanna and M.I.A) and The Throne - so good!

Haven't posted in here in years!

My updated list:

Josh Pyke x10 or 11? I've lost count now of how many times I've seen him live. This includes paid gigs + free ones + instore appearances.

Brooke Fraser x about 4 or 5. My memory is sketchy on that one.

John Mayer x4 I think. Didn't go and see him when he was last in town. If he tours again I might go see him.

All the rest I've seen once:

KT Tunstall (would be more if I lived in the northern hemisphere! :()
Incubus
Coldplay
Rogue Traders (when Nat Bass was in the group and they were hitting the big time)
Crowded House
Split Enz
Powderfinger/Silverchair (on the Across The Great Divide tour, about 5 years ago, long before either band split)

My list doesn't include all the support acts I've seen, except for Brooke when she supported John ages ago.

Haven't been to many gigs recently and there are numerous that I would've loved to have seen (namely Kimbra, Lanie Lane & the upcoming Ed Sheeran gig), but I'm going to see Gotye in December, which I'm excited about.

Forgot to add Hungry Kids of Hungary to my list. Saw them do a free gig about 18 months ago and only had my memory jogged when I listened to their album this morning.

I also experienced one of my best gigs of all time, and considering I saw them two weeks ago and didn't think that about it (though still very much enjoyed) I can't tell you what the difference was, it's weird! However, Swedish House Mafia on Sunday night was just insane level good. Incredible.

I saw the following this weekend:

Kaiser Chiefs
Temper Trap
Olly Murs
Florence & The Machine
Snow Patrol
--
Alt-J
Blood Red Shoes
Stooshe
Childish Gambino
Emeli Sande
Rizzle Kicks
Ben Howard
The Maccabees
Two Door Cinema Club
David Guetta
--
Nicola Benedetti
McFly
Twin Atlantic
Rita Ora
Maverick Sabre
Miles Kane
Chase & Status
Nicki Minaj
Swedish House Mafia

An absolutely QUALITY weekend!

I saw Lady Gaga on June 8 :D It was my second time seeing her!

I'm not sure which show was better, cos it was two completely different experiences - last time I was general admission and this time I had a seat, but both were amazing!
One for the money, two for the show, I love you honey, I'm ready ready to go...

As I mentioned about a month ago in This & That, going to see Ed Sheeran in March! After missing out on his last gig here (which was last month actually), when I saw he was going to tour again next year, I made sure I didn't miss out this time.

Just out of interest (and not necessarily related to Jason Mraz himself) but what's it like seeing the same artist so many times? Is each time as special as the other or are some performances less enjoyable? Also, do you see alot of the same crowd?

Hope you don't mind me answering this.

For me (and I'll relate this back to the zillion times I've seen Aussie artist Josh Pyke), it is still enjoyable and I still have a good time, but I guess it's not as enjoyable as the 1st or 2nd time or so, purely because you've seen them a lot.

That said, the last time I saw JP they were filming a video for one of his singles and I'm sort of in it. (0:51, tall, short dark hair, grey jacket, bopping along - that's me....my hair is longer now though.) Finding that out was pretty exciting. At another gig I believe he was filming part of the concert for a DVD he brought out years ago, which I really need to get at some stage....may find myself on that too.

I still try and get to as many gigs of his as I can because I adore his music and my argument is if one of your favourite artists was gigging every 3-6 months whilst they had an album out, wouldn't you want to go and see them all the time?

As far as seeing the same crowd....I've seen at least 1 guy who I've seen before at gigs. Maybe 1 girl as well (who uploads good quality live footage to YouTube I must say, seen a few of her live vids), but I'm not too sure. The audience changes a bit methinks.

^ Thanks for the reply! It was really interesting to read that you enjoyed the first few times a bit more than the other times. I go to concerts whenever I can (if I can afford the tickets, of course) but I've never had the oppurtunity to see an act more than twice I think.

Aww, so nice of you.

btw, I don't think that was expensive, especially not in country like Belgium
I think it's the same here, mayeb 10-20e less, and our standard is far bellow the one you have.
Tho, I would probably considered it as expensive if many acts performed here.
