ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart

- ariacharts.com.au

• In what we could presume was one of the closest battles for #1 so far this year, the dark horse, Reece Mastin has come out on top. This marks the second #1 single for the X-Factor winner thanks to his loyal fanbase

• Fun. will have to settle for an impressive #2 jump with 'Some Nights', whilst P!nk makes no appearance on the chart this week, held off by Sony until next week. Speaking of which, she is very much the hot favourite to hit #1 next week. Reece looks to take a spectacular stumble from #1 (well, not of Karise Eden proportions, but in general!), aside from being assisted by the 'signed single' promo, he'd be lucky to be in the top 10 again next week.

• I think Sony may be going for a trifecta here, with Reece debuting at #1 this week, P!nk debuting at #1 next week and a new Delta single launching sometime in the next 2-4 weeks, could they score three consecutive #1 debuts?

• Rudimental bullet to #6 this week and look to sit in the top 5 next week

• Justice Crew benefit greatly from their AGT performance, with 'Boom Boom' premiering at #24 this week. It is likely to bullet to around #10 next week, which will make them no longer a one-hit wonder and create a chart result much more impressive than their previous release 'Sexy & You Know It' which IIRC didn't even make the top 100

• It's my feel-good anthem prediction, 'Good Time' by Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen debuts at #15, it will have its eyes set on the top ten soon, but it might not truly take off until a video drops and radio really gets behind it

• Matt Corby's 'Into The Flame EP' notches up an impressive 30th week in the top 50, goes to show the power of the Triple J Hottest 100

• Ricki-Lee's 'Do It Like That' has proven to be quite the sleeper hit, spending 13 weeks in the top 50 so far, it is the third longest run she's ever had in the ARIA Top 50 (behind her hits 'Sunshine' and 'Can't Touch It'). It'll be interesting to see how her new single 'Crazy' performs when it hits digital outlets this Friday.

That's it ;)

Karise Eden holds onto the top spot for a second straight week. Highest entry comes from Hillsong Church’s live album, coming at #2. Keith Urban remains at #3, which means that we have an all Aussie Top 3! It looks like Flo Rida will sell albums this era as Wild Ones enters at #5. It becomes his highest charting LP in Australia, beating the #6 peak of R.O.O.T.S. The Offspring score their 7th Top 10 album with Days Go By, which sits at #7. Katy Perry shoots up to #8 on the back of her promo tour and the premiere of Part Of Me. Maroon 5 and Justin Bieber fall 5 spots to #9 and #10 respectively.

James Morrison hits a new peak at #15 as The Awakeing was the album of the week on iTunes. Carrie Underwood is up 12 to #18 thanks to her tour. Big movers also include Fun. who hit a new high at #20 as Some Nights climb to #2 on the singles chart. Smashing Pumpkins suffer a big second week drop, down from #8 to #26. There are also huge falls from Usher (down 10), Nicki Minaj (down 14) and Xavier Rudd (down 12). Coldplay, Bee Gees and Rebecca Ferguson rise back a bit.

Bruno Mars re-enters at #45. Metal band Periphery enter at #46 with their second effort. Fiona Apple drops hugely, down 26 spots to #49. Slash’ latest LP moves back into the first half of the Top 50 at #50.

Next week: Chris Brown will come very close to the top spot but I can’t see him outsell Karise. A Top 3 debut is highly likely though. Van She will enter around the #30 spot and Newton Faulkner around #40.

Impressive second week sales for Karise, the thing is that the media are probably going to ignore that fact and just pounce on the fact the single isn't really doing well.

Thanks to AP/TMN:

RADIO'S MOST ADDED
WEEK COMMENCING MONDAY JULY 09, 2012

01. P!NK : BLOW ME (ONE LAST KISS)
02. MAROON 5 : ONE MORE NIGHT
03. FLO RIDA FTG. GEORGI KAY : IN MY MIND PT.II
04. REECE MASTIN : SHOUT IT OUT
05. JUSTICE CREW : BOOM BOOM
06. CHRISTINA PARIE : 16 & UNSTOPPABLE
07. OWL CITY FTG. CARLY RAE JEPSEN : GOOD TIME
08. SARAH DE BONO : NO SHAME
09. CHER LLOYD FTG. ASTRO : WANT U BACK
10. CHERYL : CALL MY NAME

So... Flo Rida is releasing his version of 'In My Mind'. I'm not sure how the public will take it, I guess the original didn't get *that* far beyond the club scene, but it did briefly make the top 10 on airplay.

Good figures for the Top 2 and the singles chart.

arab wrote:In My Mind by whom?
Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl Ft. Georgi Kay. Was a #1 on the club chart and peaked at #29 on the singles chart a few weeks ago.

You can check Flo Rida's remake here. At your own peril. I can totally see it going to #1 actually...

EDIT: LOL at Hector's comment  .

Oh Gosh...my ears! He should be banned for good, seriously! For me, he's a male version of Paris Hilton and Heidi Montag combined, but much much more successful, unfortunately.

I've only heard a snippet of his remake, but unfortunately Hector's right, everyone will think this is the best thing since sliced bread.

Some iTunes action...

#1. P!nk // Blow Me [114%]
#2. Fun. // Some Nights [95%]
#3. Rudimental // Feel The Love [80%]

New peaks...

#17. Maroon 5 // One More Night
#21. B.o.B. // Both Of Us ft Taylor Swift
#29. Missy Higgins // Everyone's Waiting
#31. Train // 50 Ways To Say Goodbye
#35. Flo Rida // Run ft RedFoo
#47. Florence + The Machine // Spectrum [Calvin Harris Remix]
#64. Flo Rida // In My Mind Pt 2 ft Georgi Kay

Is Outasight's 'Tonight Is The Night' being used in promos for something? It's sudden resurgence is confusing

^ It's being used in ads for Channel 10's answer to Jersey Shore/The Only Way Is Essex/all those trashy reality shows centred around moronic people of our generation and some distinctive postcode....The Shire.

"Payphone" technically should be #1, but it looks like Aircheck is adamant on keeping 2 versions of the same song separate.

WOW at the airplay chart. Radio stations seem to have bumped most of all the three/four months old hits. Not a bad thing IMO.

Some iTunes updates...

1. Fun. - Some Nights (ahead of P!nk even with both versions of Blow Me (One Last Kiss) combined)
5. Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time
9. Maroon 5 - One More Night
11. Missy Higgins - Everyone's Waiting (used in the ads for Revenge)
12. Outasight - Tonight Is The Night
15. B.o.B Feat. Taylor Swift - Both Of Us
39. Florence + The Machine - Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix)
44. Flo Rida - In My Mind Pt. 2
48. Cheryl - Call My Name
52. Clare Bowditch - You Make Me Happy
59. Chiddy Bang Feat. Travie McCoy & Icona Pop - Mind Your Manners
61. MS MR - Hurricane
64. Jack Vidgen - Finding You
70. Marvin Priest - Are Your Ready
88. Loon Lake - Cherry Lips
94. Both Of Us - Both Of Us  (seriously, who's buying those fake versions when you can get the original?)

Whistle has also fallen out of the Top 10 for the first time, now down to #13.

Owl City, Maroon 5, Missy Higgins and B.o.B have been climbing quickly in the past few days.

Whoa @ the airplay chart, but glad to see some of the older stuff making way for new stuff. Also glad to see Everyone's Waiting making a charge north on iTunes.
