It gets me everytime, such an incredible melody to it.Too many nights, too many days
I've hidden from the sun
And though I've tried to break away
Your hold on me is just too strong

There is such a big buzz for this cover on the net...it's amazing!
I've always enjoyed it. It would be great if she could just include this version.04wayne wrote:Celine's version of At Seventeen from that Grammy's event some years ago has slowly turned into one of my favourite vocals of hers.
Its so soft and beautiful. I'm so pleased she's recording it for the new album!
I agree with you, To Love You More is a very powerful track!atbw13 wrote:I´m listening to "To Love You More " right now .

All By Myself
"The All By Myself session, at the Record Plant in Los Angeles, lasted three days. The day before, Foster told Celine that he'd changed the orchestration for the last part of the song. She would have to sing at a higher pitch, and hit a "D" that she had trouble reaching. It was at the upper limit of her range. Foster wanted her to hold that note on the "o" of "anymore" ("Don't wanna be All By Myself anymore") for several measures. She was afraid. And she knew she couldn't do it more than twice.
"Don't worry if you can't hit it," Foster said. "We'll find another way. I've got another arrangement if need be."
She was insulted. On recording day, she and Rene quarreled and Rene decided not to go to the studio with her. So off she went to the Record Plant all by herself. There she found Foster, cold, condescending, almost contemptuous.
Celine had already gotten the key, and as the technicians were laying down the track, she paced nervously up and down in the studio. Foster came up to her and told her, with a straight face, "If you can't hit the notes, don't worry. Whitney Houston can always do it. She's recording tonight in the next studio. I know she can hit a high D and hold it as long as she has to"
Celine didn't say a word. She walked over to her mike and sang "All By Myself" with all her strength and soul, with fury and passion. And at the end, when time came to climb to high D, she gave her voice everything she had. It hurt, but she held the note, long and clear. When she came back down to earth, the musicians behind the glass wall were on their feet, applauding, tears in their eyes. She walked out without a word to Foster, or without asking the technicians if everything was okay. She knew. She knew she'd scored a hole in one. Picard and Fulla followed her out into the parking lot. The night was balmy. They were laughing like children. Celine thought of Rene. She tried to figure out the reason for her outburst of anger, but she couldn't.
As she climbed into the limo, she knew that Foster was already on the phone to Rene. She could imagine what they were saying.
"It's in the can," said Foster. "Good thing you weren't there. She was furious at everybody. Nobody , no singer in the world could hold a high D as long as she did. When she hit that note, her voice had a sound to it I've never heard before. It was better than I ever hoped."
When she got back to the hotel, Rene was waiting for her in the lobby with a broad smile on his face. She threw herself into his arms."

everything in the story is correct except one thing, it is an F and not a D, the D is comfortably in her register. It is a Fa not (Do Re Mi Fa). Just thought I'd correct that04wayne wrote:To Love You More was first recorded in 1993, but not released until 1996! Random fact lol.
Who's heard the story behind the recording of All By Myself? Few, I bet! Read this...All By Myself

The note in the Spanish version isn't an F5 to my ears - it sounds one semitone lower.RightToDream wrote:Funny that she sings the Spanish version the same way. Did they fool her twice?
Yeah in the English version it is definitely an F5 - she can hit a D5 in her sleep.Titan3510 wrote:That's a great story.
But I could've sworn that it was an F5 not a D5...
That's what I thought.04wayne wrote:Yeah in the English version it is definitely an F5 - she can hit a D5 in her sleep.Titan3510 wrote:That's a great story.

That D5 is typical of her vocal power - the resonance she has in her voice is the best I've ever heard in a singer.mimifan09 wrote:Love Celine's version of "Imagine".
