This is true. NothingFails is no musical guru despite his pretensions to be one, I wouldn't take what he says seriously.
Why are you posting this all over the forum and not accepting you were wrong?

RITD was played on rock radio stations (one of 12 genre charts on which it appeared was Rock Songs) and made the top 20 on that format.

http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry ... 7742.story

Oh look at this - the other three singles from "21" also made the top 30 on that format;

I only deal in facts, nothing more, nothing less.
Counting down the days until 21 outsells Morning Glory in the UK.
Mission complete on 29.12.2012 :)

Posted in the TTT Chart Analysis Thread. The original comment was in regard to Rihanna's rumored new album and how she releases so often.

Yup, you worried?

Hmm.. Perfect timing to disappear for 10 months at least and continue working on that new album and new sound and new style she's been talking about..
SO where's that soon-to-be 2nd #1 from TTT you were talking about some time ago?
If Rihanna had promoted or her label had pushed it, it would have reached No.1 for sure, but her grandma died, she cancelled all of her concerts and her label has never done its job properly, even my 14 year-old sister could manage her better.
This has to be the lamest excuse ever. She promoted WHYB on American Idol & Saturday Night Live.

The public just didn't like the song (just look at its mediocre sales)

I'm glad this mess of an era is over.
Oh yeah right the public doesn't like this song... that's why she just sang it in front of 65k and all of them sang along...

I doubt people even know the lyrics to Wide Awake or Part of Me etc so have a seat!

As today is Queen B's birthday, it's only fitting that one of her biggest fans is spotlighted. 8-)

"Irreplaceable" is a very fitting #1 as it was the biggest hit from the B-Day era and also Beyoncé's biggest hit on Haribo's chart spending whopping six week atop his Top 20.

Other Haribo-inspired entries include those from Adele ("Rolling In The Deep" is his most played track on LastFM and spent an unparalleled eight weeks atop his chart making it the biggest hit on his chart for 2012 thus far), Katy Perry ("Wide Awake" was #1 on his chart for three weeks and "E.T." was a staple on his Top 20 and is certified "Silver" for accumulating 250,000 points), Carly Rae Jepsen ("Call Me Maybe" was a past #1 on his chart and is currently certified "Platinum" for accumulating 750,000 points), and obviously all of the Queen B entries are here because of him.

Not only is today the birthday of Haribo's idol, it's also his little brother's birthday so when I found that out there was no doubt in mind that today's Top 20 would be dedicated to him.

If there's one thing that can be said about Haribo is his dedication to the PC folder. He literally posts within minutes of you updating your chart and I'd just like for him to know that that enthusiasm is well noted and much appreciated.

Remember that we all love you but more importantly Queen B loves you. <3

Well, Tony suggested it in Matthew's year-end chart topic, but the story he posted for his top 2 songs of the year really was such a tearjerker with a happy ending that I just had to put it in here too. :)

matthew_dixon wrote:This is, as it says, my "Personal" chart of 2012. Therefore, the songs contained in it do not need to have charted in 2012. They don't need to even have been released in 2012. Indeed, there's going to be some songs in here that seemingly have absolutely no connection to 2012 for anyone else reading this. However, these are the songs that have really shaped my own personal 2012!
You can't say you weren't warned...

2. Bless The Lord My Soul (from "Godspell")
So what is it that has really shaped my 2012? Well, the first moment that my life changed in 2012 had to be all thanks to a little song called "Bless The Lord My Soul". It's taken from the musical "Godspell", which I started learning as part of a drama group when I was in my teenage years, but I can't recall learning this song back then (We never DID put the show on in the end).

Anyway, I have already mentioned Labi Siffre's "Something Inside So Strong", and I should remind people of how that fit into this chart. I was asked at the back end of 2011 whether I'd be willing to join a choir for the first couple of months of 2012 just to boost their numbers for a "Choir of the Year" contest in Warwick. We were to perform two songs - the aforementioned Labi Siffre classic, and this song from Godspell. However, this choir was different to choirs I'd been used to before. I'd been used to standing there and singing off the music. This was an all singing, all dancing extravaganza. Amongst the dance moves for this one were a rather frenetic dash across the stage where we ran headfirst towards someone who was running headfirst towards us, span them around in the middle and then ran off in the other direction. Yes, you could definitely say that it was joining this choir - CMCC - that I ended up running headfirst towards someone who was running headfirst towards me.

We had initially met, without realising each other's presence, at a choir performance at my own church back in 2004 or so. We first properly met though through last year's "Christmas: The Story" (which itself has provided two entries to this list, one for a camel and one for a donkey). However, it was the choir weekend in Warwick for the choir of the year contest that really got us talking. It was only at that point that we realised we'd actually both lived in the same town of about 3000 people some 400 miles away from Cardiff for a number of years, and had missed one another by a matter of months! It was then we realised that we shared a number of mutual friends. It was then that we decided to arrange to meet up again. It was at that next meet-up, where we ended up talking for six hours straight that we realised that this actually had some mileage in it and started going out together.

I spent most of the year thinking there was surely no way that anything could beat "Bless The Lord My Soul" in my personal chart of the year, for obvious reasons. However, that was only the beginning.

1. All I Ask Of You (from "Phantom Of The Opera")
It seems very odd this. Putting a song at No. 1 in my year end chart for 2012 that I've known since I was a kid. However, THIS is my song of the year.

The year was progressing absolutely fantastically. I never looked back once on that day in March. I started thinking that something might happen by the summer of next year... or maybe by next March, or maybe by Christmas, or... it just kept on getting sooner and sooner. On Harvest Sunday, we had a "Harvest Supper" at my church. At the end, we sang a number of songs together karaoke style, including the obligatory "Combine Harvester (Brand New Key)". However, one of the songs was this, and it resulted in myself and Elinor doing it as a duet. Next up, a few weeks later, another choir concert - this time in Yeovil. Gauri, our musical director, and I, had already been discussing the idea of me doing a solo and then proposing. However, I really couldn't think of the right song. She asked Elinor if she wanted to do a duet with me - and Elinor came up with this song - totally unaware of what would come of it. To say it was the perfect song would be an understatement. To say that it was a moment I will never forget for the rest of my life would be an even bigger understatement. To say that proposing live on stage immediately after finishing a song is nerve-wracking... well, you get the picture. Gauri choreographed us perfectly. We would start at either side of the stage, facing the audience - meaning I could get the ring out of my far side pocket without being spotted. Then we would each separately walk to the middle - with me going first, kneeling down and clasping my hands above my head - ring in my clenched fist. When Elinor came over, she would release my paired hands, and put her hands around my clenched fist. It all happened exactly as rehearsed... the only difference in the real thing is when I opened my clenched fist at the end of the song, there was a ring there! Needless to say, she said yes.

So, now you know just why I had to make an incredibly personal chart this year - the hits of 2012 didn't exactly sum up my year! Now you know why I've not been spending nearly as much time on here as I used to as well! 2012 has most definitely been a year that I will never forget!
Well done Matthew :)
