^C'mon... Rating are not everything when it comes to HBO/Showtime.

HBO renewed Treme even though it has low ratings.

Showtime renewed that awful Matt Leblanc show and it had low ratings.

HBO's The Comeback was awful.

The Big C has a stellar cast. Showtime is not going to cancel it.

Laura Linney was just Emmy nominated and she won a Golden Globe earlier this year.

A 3rd season is garaunteed.

Well that's true. That's why I love HBO/Showtime.
I'm just trying to be prepared for anything just in case (I kept hoping they wouldn't cancel 'United States of Tara' because of the critical acclaim but they still did it).
But you're probably right about the 3rd season, it's getting numbers close to what 'Nurse Jackie' got and that got renewed, and it's lead-in 'Weeds' is also losing viewers so that could be partially to blame.

This is probably the last season for Weeds. The creator has said her contract and the actor's contracts all ended with Season 7.

I hope they give it a proper ending and I'm surprised they didn't promote this as the final season, could've brought more viewers.
Anyway, they kinda jumped the shark when they moved from Agrestic, but it got some of it's groove back after they left Ren Mar.
I've enjoyed seeing them on the road the entire season 6, and so far this season is looking pretty good too, though I'd love the show to end with them returning to Agrestic. :D

I'm still amazed how shows like The Big C and Weeds haven't caught on to bigger audiences - they're both genius.

I'm not feeling the new season at all.

It's a completely different show from Season 1.

The season finale was so good with a SHOCKER of an ending!!!!!!

Do you think "he" is really dead or that the paramedics will save him?

But, a very uneven season...

I love Oliver Platt but honestly, if it turns out he's saved, as much as I'd love him on the show, it would be a really cheap shot.
Am I the only one who was actually expecting that to happen? Nonetheless the way it was directed and that final scene was really beautiful.

I don't think he will survive, and as much as I love the character I'd like to see the storyline progress into Cathy being a single mother dealing with cancer. This has been renewed for another season right? Love this show, it's definitely one of the best things on TV.

Yes, it's been renewed for a 10 episode season. :)

First ep of series 2 had the most hilarious, heart-warming punchline! :P

OMG for real? I love her. I also loved Hugh Dancy last season. He has such a beautiful smile. I cried when he died.

Season 3 was not very good.

Deadline.com:

‘The Big C’ Will End Its Run With Final Cycle,

By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Monday July 30, 2012

At the top of the Showtime executive session, entertainment president David Nevins announced that cancer comedy The Big C will conclude its run with a “special limited run of 4 hourlong installments.

“From its inception it has been unique in tone,” Nevins said of the dark comedy, praising creator Darlene Hunt and showrunner Jenny Bicks, who, along with star Laura Linney, are set to return for the final chapter. “

The show began in the summer in Season 1, went through spring and winter in Seasons 2 and 3? and will conclude in “a new form-breaking way.”
