its not a matter of making dance music or not, it's the matter of music quality. And as many said, she is not at her best nowadays.

I totally disagree with Elton, and IMHO the only reason that MDNA is more or less flopping is that Madonna is not promoting it at all... only reason for Elton to speak about Madonna is that it's generating publicity and with his new album he needs that....
Good music don't need to be promoted. Adele rings any bell for you?

Despite I would've rather other songs to be released as singles I have to say that Turn Up The Radio is ideal for the summer season, this song is pure fun, a very uplifting and nice carefree feel good song.

Adele is the wrongest example as she is a big exeption being above all.

I completely disagree. Two out of her last three albums got terrific reviews. Most reviews for Confessions and MDNA were extremely positive.

Good music is in the eye of the beholder. I just didn't connect with 21 at all and if I remember correctly 21 got a lot of buzz.

That's your opinion, for me MDNA is the best album released this year along with Lana Del Rey. That's my taste and you can't question it

Gaga's Born This Way ring any bell for you? Promoted to hell yet it only sold around 6 million copies. And that's the most hyped artist of the last 5 years

I don't think the promotion is the only problem with the MDNA flop, Give Me All Your Luvin' was performed on the most viewed show of the year and it only helped to start with a decent position (plus GMAYL was helped even by the airplay deal) and then the song dropped off the chart faster than you can say 'GaGa'...!

A good promo schedule could've helped the sales a bit for sure, but I don't think it would've turned MDNA into a successful record.

Super Bowl was always about showcasing her as a performer, not album or single sales. Otherwise GMAYL would never ever be a single.

They did a good job out of it though, tickets sales are good in US.

 Adele has gotten so much press and was so over hyped that it's understandable that she sold a lot, but just goes to show that anything can sell when it gets hyped, because Adele multi-selling record was as far from good music as possible

The promotion of BTW ran out rather fast, only the 2 first singles got a decent promoting.... nowadays you mostly hear about Gaga because of the Gaga fans bitching about Madonna

Well the airplay deal was an American thing, and that did not help the single in most other countries ;-) as a lead single GMAYL got very little airplay time in most European countries, and that really is the main problem for Madonna these days. radio stations does not play her much, and unless she does a radio-tour they are never going to play her again...

Adele has been selling a lot with 21 since day 1 when there was no hype around the album. The hype has built up because of the remarkable and enormous success of 21.

There is no way to say this music is good quality or not, it's just a matter of taste, it's just a ridiculous presumption of people especially music critics, who in most cases are not reliable. Music is something that gives us emotions and at that point we can say "I like it or not" or " I'm gonna buy it or not " .. a song ,that I don't like at all , can be "the most beautiful song in the world" for others... and , last thing , thinking that success is synonymous with quality is completely wrong ...but this is just my point of view of course

Maybe in some markets, but for sure not here, the selling only started after the hype   and as said before IMHO the album is crap.

could be the case in the US, but it takes more than the US to sell millions and millions of records these days  As far as I have seen the best song on the album "Marry the night" got close to no promotion at all here in Europe.
