For several years fans have been wondering what would be next for the cult series that relaunched the career of 80's heartthrob Jason Bateman and also made stars out of Michael Cera and Will Arnett.

http://www.tmz.com/2011/10/02/arrested- ... on-howard/

"Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz announced today that the show will be coming back to television -- five years after it was cancelled.

Hurwitz said the show will do a "limited" season which will show us what the characters have been up to since the show last aired ... which will then lead right into the planned movie.

There is no official deal in place yet for where or when the show will air.

Arrested Development will return to TV with a mini-season of new episodes leading into a movie, series creator Mitch Hurwitz has confirmed.

The comedy, which concluded its three-season run in 2006, will film nine or ten episodes before production on the feature gets underway.

Hurwitz announced the news while attending the cast's reunion at the New Yorker Festival earlier today.

Will Arnett, who played George Bluth II on the show, later confirmed via Twitter: "I'm peeing with @batemanjason at the moment..and we can confirm that we are going to make new AD eps and a movie."

Jason Bateman (Michael Bluth) also tweeted: "It's true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early '13. VERY excited!"

The mini-season will focus on where the show's characters are now, in order to reacquaint the audience with the series before the impending movie.

However, there is currently no deal in place to confirm when or where the new episodes will air.

Bateman recently promised that the Arrested Development movie is "on course to be shot next year", telling Digital Spy that the film will feature a number of cameos.

Meanwhile, Bateman's co-star David Cross has said that constantly being asked about the proposed movie is "mildly irritating", saying that for a long time he was not confident that the project would get off the ground.

Shockingly I've never seen this show but so many people have recommended it to me that I'm gonna buy the DVD boxset and give it a try.

They started shooting for S4 this week. It'll be 10 episodes long and all 10 episodes will be available at the same time on Netflix.

I'm so looking forward to this. Am currently rewatching the whole show and it's just so clever and sharp-witted.

It's my favourite TV series of all time, and I still maintain, one of the best-written, comedically dense and superbly-acted show ever made.

I'll be all over this when its released.

Oh my yes, Tobias is hilarious but I don't think there's one unfunny character at all - they're all hilarious. This show is literally too quotable but this one of my favourites:

Lindsay: Where's Nana?
Lucille: I sent her on a wonderful cruise. You just missed a wonderful call from her. She just came back from a wonderful costume party that the captain threw. She gained ten pounds, there's so much food on that boat. She's up to 74. She tried pesto for the first time. Imagine that, 92 years old and she never tried pesto. It was wonderful. Just wonderful.
Narrator: In fact, Lucille's mother had been dead for six months.

Yeah, every character is amazingly funny. But...unpopular opinion here...Lucille was the funniest! My favorite Lucille line is this one:

Lindsay: So, having fun? Where’d you get that brooch?
Maeby: Gangee. Nice, huh?
Lindsay: That was supposed to be for me. She was my au pair. I’m the one who cleared my throat and pointed to the laundry room. Ma! You know I wanted that.
Lucille: I know. But it’s an elephant. And I didn’t want to invite the comparison.

I don't think that's really unpopular - she's so brilliant. I love it when she does her quotation marks upside down and spills her martini every time.

Also, I have a great amount of appreciation for Maeby.

So many returnees coming back for the new season. Here's the latest:

Mae Whitman has confirmed that she will return for Arrested Development's fourth season.

The actress starred in the first three seasons of Arrested Development as George Michael's (Michael Cera) girlfriend Ann Veal, a character often mocked for heir plain looks.

Whitman has now revealed that she recently spoke with the show's creator Mitch Hurtwitz about reprising the role for the 2013 miniseries.

"I've always been like, 'Oh I don't want to give anything away', but I definitely, definitely wouldn't ever let this chance go by without being a part of it," she said, according to Hollywood.com.

Whitman is currently also playing Amber on Parenthood, but she stressed that she will rearrange her schedule to shoot Arrested Development as well.

"I told Mitch that I would stand outside the sound stage until he would let me just walk through the background or something," she joked.

The star added: "I would say yes, you can definitely expect to find a little bit of Ann hiding in the background somewhere, at least."

Whitman is one of many Arrested Development guest stars who will return for the upcoming reunion season.

Liza Minnelli was confirmed this week to reprise her character Lucille Austero, while Judy Greer is expected back as corrupt secretary Kitty Sanchez.

Henry Winkler and Scott Baio will play the Bluth family's attorneys once again.

Who?

^^ Haha, how could you forget?

Watched the first 3 series again over the past couple weeks... this seriously couldn't come fast enough for me.

Also confirmed for the upcoming season: Confessions of a Shopaholic star Isla Fisher and Terry "...I just got burgers" Crews from The Expendables 2, White Chicks et all.

I'm sure Mitch Hurwitz wouldn't allow anything less than perfection for these new episodes and the movie. BRING IT!

Can't wait! I've watched the first three seasons over the past few months on Netflix and LOVE it, such clever writing and not one bad character.

I think Tobias and Lucille are my favourites. The whole 'Tobias being Mrs Featherbottom' farce was hilarious.

Portia looks like she's had some work done.
Alia looks like a middle-aged woman.

Jessica Walter hasn't aged at all though.
