Whitney Poised to Record Again

Whitney Houston will return to the recording studio to begin cutting what could become her comeback album. That's the news from Clive Davis, the recording industry honcho who has been godfathering Houston's career from the beginning -- and who has remained her friend through her travails with estranged husband Bobby Brown, her troubles with the law and drugs, etc. Lately -- since her split from Brown, to be specific -- Houston has been looking more and more her old self. Davis says, "I love that poll that said that out of all the comebacks the public would like to see -- Tom Cruise, Britney Spears and others -- Whitney's was the most looked-forward-to comeback by America. That made us very happy. As far as the status of her record? "We've chosen seven songs. We're getting incredible material in from all over the world -- the best songwriters are sending us their work," he says. Come next Saturday, February 10, "Whitney will be my date," says Clive, for his annual, ultra-glam pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Davis never announces in advance who is going to perform at the event attended by Hollywood's and the music industry's biggest stars, but since he's doing an album with "Dreamgirls" Oscar nominee Jennifer Hudson, and Beyonce and Jay-Z are also coming, well...could be a Dreamy night in more ways than the usual. New Whitney Houston Album On the Way, Says Davis
Expect a new album from Whitney Houston by year's end, reports music icon and J Records honcho Clive Davis. 'We're going back into the studio either the last week of March or the first week of April,' says Davis, who's godfathered her career from the beginning. 'I'm extremely excited about being back with her. I've recorded with her every great album she did and we're a great team.'
Davis says the album won't be a new direction for the singer who's been in the press more for her beleaguered marriage and substance abuse problems in the past few years than her music. 'It's just going to be great material. We're back and we're going to pick the best songs. It's going to be Whitney at her best. Her voice is soaring. Did you see her at the World Music Awards a few weeks ago where I got the Lifetime Achievement Award? She was dazzling! The camera panned to Celine Dion crying and Josh Groban crying and Courtney Love said 'My God, this is the best singer in the world.'' (Thanks David)

A duet with Alicia Keys? That would be interesting to hear.

And on the subject of possible collaborations, I'd also love it if she duets with Lauryn Hill at some point in the future.

Wow!! Alicia Keys and Whitney!?!... sounds exciting! I can't wait what that'll sound like!! I hope Whitney still has her vocals.. I like some of her songs but the one with Nelly just irritated me!!

Hey amsterdammed... I can't believe I'm saying this, but what you said about Mariah Carey is SOMEWHAT true... I mean, she really did lose a lot of fans by her new feat!! But I'm hoping in this album, we'll see a lot of changes!! **but not so many changes that she has to look like beyonce on her album cover** LmfaOo...

peace easee y'all..

Her career was over when she **** around with bobby Brown and until she got her anerexic butt some meat on her and she get off the crack ( I seen her with Diane Swayer way back when )she'll be in the light again on a positive note. And y'all talkin about that duet as if she did that a year ago. it was more like 6 years ago. I guess that's when her career dropped. :D

Hells no! The duet came out around the time her 'My Love Is Your Love' album dropped - safely the hottest album she ever did.

Who cares!!!! All I was doing was corrcting you on saying that the "My Love is your Love" albumn came out like 6 years ago. 1998 in fact. I love Whitney to death, she is one of the divas of R&B, and yes anyone should be honored. But I hope on her behalf that she decided to leave the crack back with the man she should've left in the first place. I don't care for Alica Keys but she doin her thing. Sh making dat money too. She allowed herself to fall when she started looking like a anorexic crackhead. But everyone has their low monents. Good she coming back. Hopefully, she be one of those who come back successfully, unlike Michael jackson ( Invincible)

Thank you! I don't know what u guys call her in Britain, but in America, she is known as an R&B artist. She doesn't even have upbeat tracks like that to even be called "pop" Yeah there are many R&B soundtracks, I was naming the obvious one ( The Bodyguard)
