Now u got it, thanks a lot Feeder

it's great to see they certified "You're beautiful", in the last 3 years BPI hasn't certified much singles even if they sold +200k

Feeder_Guy wrote:The Longview one is very interesting.

The album has 2 silver discs this week, as it comes in 3 issues.

The second one followed the 80 percent rule, so the sales from those 2 are combined, but the 3rd one don't due to adding extra tracks, and leaving one off.

This means the album has 2 silver discs for each one as if the band have 2 albums!.
I don't understand why the sales couldn't be combined for all 3 versions in this case.

All 12 tracks on "Mercury" Release 1 (Jul 2003)appear on Release 2 (Special Edition, Jan 2005). There is a 9 track bonus disc but all 9 are remixes of the original tracks and can be ignored for the calculation. 100% of qualifying tracks are common to both versions, so sales can be combined.

Release 2 was then deleted and Release 3 (bonus tracks, July 2005) was issued. This drops one of the original 12 tracks and adds two new ones plus a remix. The remix can be ignored so that makes 13 qualifying tracks on the 'bigger' version - 11 of which appear on Release 1 *and* Release 2. 11 tracks in common out of 13 is 84.62%

So why can't Version 3 be combined with Versions 1 and 2? Is the problem the track that was dropped from version 3 ("This Is"), perhaps due to the following rule? "Remixed, extended, live, demo versions of featured tracks are exempt from the 80% rule which only applies to formats which feature additional track titles." Or is the problem one of the bonus tracks "Falling Without You" (why call it a bonus track anyway? It was on the original just like most of the others). Or is the remix "Further" not a true remix?

Or is there some unstated limitation on the number of times you can combine different versions? Help!!! :o

yeah on the BPI site there's no certification since November 11 argh

anyway James Blunt's You're Beautiful doesn't appear in the site, even if we've been told it became SILVER... I guess by now it's even GOLD.

Don't Cha has been certified Silver too.

I hope BPI will update its site soon!

BoroButch, can you tell me if Kelly Clarkson's album Breakaway has been certified 4X Platinum because it is so close or over 1 million copies.
