I agree. She's already done all that on Just Whitney, and on the whole it just came out sounding pretty angry more than anything else.

I'd prefer "I don't love you anymore" type songs rather than inspirational/strength songs. But after what she's been through, she can't just avoid it. I don't mind one or two as long as there just album tracks.

I hope she goes back to something similar to the My Love Is Your Love era. I really liked all her 90's stuff (except the whole "Bodyguard" soundtrack), especially that driven R&B suits her well IMO. Just Whitney was a wasted record IMO. A lot of cheap filler tracks instead of potential hits and classics. I was very disappointed with that album.

Fox News is reporting that music superstar Whitney Houston is start the recording of her new album today.

Houston is booked for sessions with renown writer/producer/artist Johnta Austin . Austin won a Grammy for co-writing Mariah Carey's mega hit "We Belong Together." His other credits include work for Mary J Blige and Janet Jackson. Hopefully he can work his magic on Whitney's project too.

Clive Davis - Whitney's longtime mentor/label boss- has already decided on about seven songs for Houston, including those by R. Kelly, Diane Warren and other big-name producers.

Her comeback is shaping up to be BIG.

The promotion has begun. Clive Davis was on The Today Show to talk about Whitney and her voice. They gave a sneak peak at an RKelly-produced song with his vocals (not hers).

Whitney will also be working with John Legend.

Back in the United States, Legend said he'll be putting pen to paper with some of the finest artists R&B has to offer. He and Alicia Keys have discussed working together again, and he has more concrete plans with two other powerful women.

"I'll be writing with Whitney Houston and Jennifer Hudson," Legend revealed. "You never know with those things — you see what happens. If it comes out hot, it will make the album. If not, then it will just be an experience."

Whitney's hopefully gonna return with some great material. She seems more eager and determined than ever.

She needs a single as strong as Mariah Carey's We Belong Together to make people take notice of her, again. Obviously not the same sound as WBT, but something which radio and TV just can't ignore!

Black America's favorite pop diva Whitney Houston is staging a major comeback.

According to published reports, the former chart-topping singer -- of formidable hit songs such as 'I Will Always Love You,' 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay,' and 'How Will I Know' -- is taking "the tentative steps toward reclaiming her once-flourishing career."

Fox News's gossip guru Roger Friedman recently reported that Houston is venturing into a recording studio with in-demand writer-producer Johnta Austin. The protégée of hip-hop super-producer and new Island Def Jam president Jermaine Dupri, Austin won a Grammy Award for co-writing Mariah Carey's gargantuan comeback hit 'We Belong Together.'

Other high powered hit-makers such as R. Kelly and Diane Warren have been associated with the project, which is expected later this year.

While some reports indicated that Houston has started recording in New York City, sources tell The BV Newswire that she is expected to start officially working next week in Los Angeles, where she was reportedly going to rehab for substance abuse.

This season, fans of the multiple Grammy Award winning chanteuse rejoiced at the fact that she appeared on the soundtrack for Tyler Perry's latest movie 'Daddy's Little Girls.' The song 'Family First' also features the voices of her family members, including pop music legend Dionne Warwick,gospel and soul music stalwart Cissy Houston and Houston's teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina.

Music industry legend Clive Davis, who is credited with discovering Houston and shaping her stellar career, will oversee the yet to be titled comeback opus.

"We are reviewing material right now," he recently commented to the 'New York Post.' "She looks radiant and is clearly together. She is talking enthusiastically and is articulate."

Platinum-plated R&B crooner Ne-Yo, who composed Beyonce's chart-topping hit single 'Irreplaceable,' is also in the Whitney mix.

The Arkansas native (legally known as Shaffer Smith) recently told MTV Radio Networks of his plans to work with the diva. "She's definitely recording; I've heard a few songs that she's cutting," he said. "Vocally, Whitney's back. Real talk. She's definitely back. I've done a few songs for her that her people have told me that they like. We just gotta find the time now to get in there and get'em done."

A spokesperson for J Records --Houston's label -- remained mum when prodded for details about the recording process today, but Davis (who made Alicia Keys an international phenomenon over the past seven years) seems quite confident of the effort.

"We are going to make a great album," he added. "In my opinion, the best singers in the world are Aretha (Franklin) and Whitney. That's not to knock Mariah. Mariah is a friend of mine, but I think Mariah would even say those two are the best."

Man of the moment, Ne-Yo, has long been a favorite of the press. We love this dude because he speaks his mind. He recently put Trey Songz in check for charging fans for taking a photo with him and now he is getting at Whitney Houston by saying the songs he's heard from her highly anticipated 'comeback' CD are boring.

Ne-Yo was asked to rank the songs by Clive Davis himself. "They all had the one same theme, which was 'My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback.' We all understand she has gone through a lot. I'm sure we all get that but I think she needs songs about regular everyday life. So that's what I'm planning to add to the album - songs about everyday emotions," Ne-Yo told The Sun. [Ne-Yo's own album Because Of You is out on May 1.]

SOHH Soulman says, "Too many chefs in the kitchen seemingly all preparing the same meal. Don't it seem like everyone has written a song for Whitney? i really dislike the fact mimi gets brought into this everytime, its just gonna provoke conflict between fans, there seperate artists,deal with it

It looks like he actually did say about the songs being of a similar theme and nothing new etc which is if it the case im glad he's said it cause its what most of us on here feared the woe is me approach, lets face it the general public dont really have any sypathy for her, anyhow the mariah stuff was the writters opinions

Totally agreed!!

She needs something on the strength and level of Mariah Carey's We Belong Together, to get a HUGE hit. The album needs to follow-suit, too. I kind of worry, if that is what Ne-Yo said.

Quality is EVERYTHING if you're a veteran and a big-name singer. I hate to make comparisons with Mariah, but I'm afraid that that is what happens. TEOM was such a success because Mariah was back to her creative peak. No wonder mediocre sales of 20 YO couldn't help Janet Jackson, despite the big promotion campaign, which she got. Fans of singers like these expect a high standard, and they need to perform to that level, and thus their fans know that they can hit multi-platinum!

That doesn't mean a thing these people are paid hundreds of thousands to basically do as they're told, i.e write a song about Whitney's strugle etc I hope Whitney gets more involved in the writing process and puts in more of the personality that we all now know she has. I might get shot down for saying this but I dont have too much faith in Clive Davis anymore, I think he's from a differnt period of time and what worked back in his hay day may not work now. I mean he had great success with Alicia Keys but its her that came with the songs etc and lets face it anyone fool could have made Alicia big. Clive is a 'whats hot right now' type manager, and he he likes to stick to a formular whereas personally I dont think Whitney can come back and try and do what she did in the 90's, times moved on and people will just compare and critise. She needs t just come with something unexpected, I personally would love a jazzy type blues influence, James Poyser, Remi Salaami even Mark Ronson...

I completely agree. Just Whitney was very "me against the world" throughout and it was a pile of pants as a result. That and most songs sounded like tracks on the top of the producers' reject piles.
