Gotta leave it up to Paul to research that :P

I'm surprised Usher's follow up did so poorly. I remember "Love In This Club" was blasting through the school cafeteria and I absolutely loved it. Maybe ... people felt the same way. Loved the singles, hated the album.

Nice! Looks amazing. It would be amazing when one day we could have the complete Soundscan 200 best selling albums, cause that's how far it goes. 200. Like that's why we always had the Billboard 200 for albums.

Looking through this thread and updates and new albums that have come, in order to be in the Soundscan 200, an album must of have sold at least 4.6 million.

Such a shame, classic albums like Nirvana's In Utero and Oasis's What's The Story Morning Glory couldn't make it (both have sold exactly around 4 million according to soundscan)

If they ever did a "Billboard 200, 200 best selling albums of all time", then you would have to have sold a minimum of 5 million to be in the top 200.

where´s Snoop Dogg with his Doggystyle album.
It sold well over 6 Mio and is not in the Soundscan list Top 100.

How can R. be 8 times platinum (maybe 4 because of the double CD rule) and have only sold 1.6 million. This is a little odd.

25 (+2) 9,217,000 Devil without a cause - Kid Rock (13/05/2012)

That's pretty healthy sales for Kid Rock, I do wonder though that 145,000~ sales in 3 years, it's well enough to rank in the catalog charts once in awhile but yet I don't recall seeing it there, at least not recently. Slowly, week by week, we get a bone, eventually all the albums in this list will have a 2012 update, woo-hoo!

^Look:

hanboo in 2008:

Notes:

The list shows only the highest selling edition of each album.

For some albums in the list I've added the total edition sales number between brackets.

When all releases would be included, the albums below would enter the top 100:

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - East 1999 Eternal (sales 6.12 million)
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle (6.01 million)
AC/DC - Back In Black (5.73 million)

^ are we sure these stats are 100% accurate? I find it hard to believe that week after week NOBODY in the entire US buys a copy of Shania Twain's Come On Over.
Counting down the days until 21 outsells Morning Glory in the UK.

^We can only update this thread when we get confirmed SoundScan figures.

No one here has access to weekly SoundScan figures.

Some of these figures are 4 years old! They'll have to do until we get new figures.

Ah OK, that makes sense, I wasn't criticising. I just found it weird that Come On Over (among others) had apparently stopped selling completely - but your explanation clarifies, thanks.

The oldest figure we have is 5 & half years old and that's Bone Thugs N Harmnony's East 1999 album.

6/2/12 Billboard charts:

Here are Britney Spears' U.S. album sales to-date:

10.5 million, "…Baby One More Time," 1998
9.2 million, "Oops!...I Did It Again," 2000
4.4 million, "Britney," 2001
3 million, "In the Zone," 2003
1.7 million, "Circus," 2008
1.4 million, "Greatest Hits: "My Prerogative," 2004
1 million, "Blackout," 2007 (*The album passed 1 million in sales for the week ending July 24, 2011. It had stood at 990,00 sold at the start of last year)
755,000, "Femme Fatale," 2011
209,000, "The Singles Collection," 2009
131,000, "B in the Mix: The Remixes," 2005
24,000, "B in the Mix: The Remixes: Vol. 2," 2011

Spears' career album sales in the U.S. total 32.5 million.

That makes her the 16th-best-selling album artist since the advent of SoundScan data in 1991.

These albums are dead in the water. They won't get huge boosts.

^Exactly. Shipments are low. The X Factor's ratings were disappointing last season so I would not expect a big boost.

you never know, The Voice did wonders for Maroon 5's back catalog. But then again, Idol did nothing for J. Lo's albums.

Maroon 5 are more the kind of act to sell well on catalog than Britney though. Perhaps her Greatest Hits will get a boost but not BOMT or Oops!
