It looks like you could get 100x100 in the section where the 70x70 is...if not if it was at least 90x90 it'd make all the difference.

I think that avi avatars are awful - thats just my preference though.
However 100x100 sized avatars wouldn't be a bad idea - not too sure how easy it would be to implement on these forums though.
