i guess she's the only from "old 80/90s female league" who sold 3M units of a given song...i mean Mariah, Whitney, Celiné, Janet

What is impressive is that Madge did it at her 3th decades of career....that being said the digital era helped a lot to pump the figure: I still find hard to consider 4m more succesfull than Like A Virgin or Like A PrayerNackar wrote:To be honest, if My Heart Will Go On had not had just a limited pressing of the CD single, I think its overall sales might also have been lifted up to and past 3 million.
Anyway, it's still impressive for Madonna, as it is for Whitney!
That's remain in the "IF" department and cannot be proven.....so NEXT.04wayne wrote:The star collaboration is what drove that sale; had Justin not featured, I highly doubt she'd have sold one half of what it did.
Well, in all honesty it is not considering how much money 4m brought in and how much money LAV and LAP brought in and adjusted for inflationdenise wrote:What is impressive is that Madge did it at her 3th decades of career....that being said the digital era helped a lot to pump the figure: I still find hard to consider 4m more succesfull than Like A Virgin or Like A PrayerNackar wrote:To be honest, if My Heart Will Go On had not had just a limited pressing of the CD single, I think its overall sales might also have been lifted up to and past 3 million.

Well maybe its an "IF" to you.denise wrote:That's remain in the "IF" department and cannot be proven.....so NEXT.04wayne wrote:The star collaboration is what drove that sale; had Justin not featured, I highly doubt she'd have sold one half of what it did.
Exactly what I tried to say......there is no way 4M may be considered her most succesfull single on the base alone of that 3mil figure.jio wrote:Well, in all honesty it is not considering how much money 4m brought in and how much money LAV and LAP brought in and adjusted for inflationdenise wrote:What is impressive is that Madge did it at her 3th decades of career....that being said the digital era helped a lot to pump the figure: I still find hard to consider 4m more succesfull than Like A Virgin or Like A PrayerNackar wrote:To be honest, if My Heart Will Go On had not had just a limited pressing of the CD single, I think its overall sales might also have been lifted up to and past 3 million.

Again that remain an "IF" because there is no a "FACT" that proves the contrary...ok....bye04wayne wrote:Well maybe its an "IF" to you.denise wrote:That's remain in the "IF" department and cannot be proven.....so NEXT.04wayne wrote:The star collaboration is what drove that sale; had Justin not featured, I highly doubt she'd have sold one half of what it did.
But most will recognise that 4 Minutes sold primarily because of the Justin collaboration.
Except the fact that Hard Candy was her lowest-selling studio album to date, and couldn't even manage platinum.denise wrote:Again that remain an "IF" because there is no a "FACT" that proves the contrary...ok....bye
Lol, single sales are not strectly related to album sales and that is proven by even the hottest and younger names who sold billions of single these days and in comparison "relatively" way lesser amount of album.04wayne wrote:Except the fact that Hard Candy was her lowest-selling studio album to date, and couldn't even manage platinum.denise wrote:Again that remain an "IF" because there is no a "FACT" that proves the contrary...ok....bye
If her selling power was all that strong, her fan base would've shelled out for Hard Candy; fact is, they didn't.
4 Minutes sold because of the collaboration.
Oh I couldn't give a shit if she sold 3m or 6m copies of 4 Minutes!NoAngel wrote:Someone really can't hide jealousy
But the point is that from her lowest-selling album she obtained her highest-selling single; she isn't Rihanna or Katy Perry or Lady Gaga - she's Madonna. The supposed Queen of Popular music and one of the most reliable album sellers of all-time.denise wrote:Lol, single sales are not strectly related to album sales and that is proven by even the hottest and younger names who sold billions of single these days and in comparison "relatively" way lesser amount of album.
And HC in the context for an act of her age still sold quite well if you ask me.
That IS totally misleading ....again it's the digital era alone that pump that title as M's biggest single.....there is no way for me that 4M can be classified as her most succesfull single despite the fact that it undoubtely benefited of the digital era effect: and that no one is denying it.04wayne wrote:But the point is that from her lowest-selling album she obtained her highest-selling single; she isn't Rihanna or Katy Perry or Lady Gaga - she's Madonna. That excuse of there being no correlation probably holds some substance with young artists - I'm not at all saying that Justin is 100% responsible for the hit. But the fact that the two collaborated is definitely the reason that the single sold 3m copies.
To be honest no, Wayne goes on and on until he literally ruins the thread, just have a look on this page.stevyy wrote:, isn't it nice how such a record attracs a Celine and Mariah stan so fast to post here?
Lol true...other 2 or 3 XMAS and Mariah will be there to surpassstevyy wrote:yeah, with 3m digital downloads of 4m sold, she is the only of her peers to have a 3m seller (digitally).. but watch out Madonna, All I want for Christmas is you (2.250.000 so far) will be there too in 3 years max.![]()

It didn't happen the same when Justin was featured in a Ciara single though.04wayne wrote:But most will recognise that 4 Minutes sold primarily because of the Justin collaboration.
aha , well its not necesary bring Mariah here , why people can t consider that like a prayer is going to 800,000 digital songs , song from 1989, in 2 or 3 years like a prayer will cross the 1 m mark of digital sales , and imagine if Madonna die , 4 sure like a prayer digital sales will explote.stevyy wrote:yeah, with 3m digital downloads of 4m sold, she is the only of her peers to have a 3m seller (digitally).. but watch out Madonna, All I want for Christmas is you (2.250.000 so far) will be there too in 3 years max.![]()
Madonna always does something big first and Mariah follows suit.love that. Whitney's I will always love you will also one day join the 3m elite club. The song will hit 2m in a few months.
But fact is, Madonna did it first!!
btw, isn't it nice how such a record attracs a Celine and Mariah stan so fast to post here?
And as I said - credit doesn't primarily lie with Justin. Madonna also.Nichu94 wrote:It didn't happen the same when Justin was featured in a Ciara single though.04wayne wrote:But most will recognise that 4 Minutes sold primarily because of the Justin collaboration.
Remarkable achievement. As someone else has already pointed out, no other 80s/90s divas have got a 3 million digital seller, released during the digital era.
