i don t think so if you see 4 minutes still selling , till october 2010 it has sold 2,814,000, so it sold more than 186,000 in more than a year , and 4 minutes has sold more than 750,000 more than mimi xmas song total , mariah will wait like 5 years or more to try surpass 4 minutes

It didn't happen the same when Justin was featured in a Ciara single though.

Remarkable achievement. As someone else has already pointed out, no other 80s/90s divas have got a 3 million digital seller, released during the digital era.

AIWFCIY is such a classic...I mean even the stones go and downloaded it in Xmas period....I see no problem for Mariah to get to the 3 mil mark.

@Nichu: finally you are back. :P

which in its own is a great achievement. and puts her second among her peers.

bringing other artists into the discussion is necessary if we want to put that achievement of selling 3m downloads of one single into perspective. That is all that I've done.  It's a great achievement and as I said before, among her peers, she did it first.. not even #1 singles by other artists of her peer group sold even half of that. Which makes 4 minutes appear appear even huger.

is 4 minutes 3x platinum by the RIAA too? Or has her former label neglected to re-certify it again?

Madonna always does something big first and Mariah follows suit. love that. Whitney's I will always love you will also one day join the 3m elite club. The song will hit 2m in a few months.

But fact is, Madonna did it first!!

btw, isn't it nice how such a record attracs a Celine and Mariah stan so fast to post here?
aha , well its not necesary bring Mariah here , why people can t consider that like a prayer is going to 800,000 digital songs , song from 1989, in 2 or 3 years like a prayer will cross the 1 m mark of digital sales , and imagine if Madonna die , 4 sure like a prayer digital sales will explote.
Alek , you are one-of-a-kind human being !
I swear, I can´t stop laughing at how you see things!

I'm really here for the thought of Madonna and her remaining peers growing really old.. like 100+ and always judging young new artists.. saying how in 1987 or 1998 the music was better.. etc.

As of yesterday, 4M has not been certified 3xPlat by the RIAA, only 2xP.

They are not big countries and she is not in high positions. I don't think she sells more than 10-20 copies daily for each country. So her global downloads in a week should be approx 1000 (in a week like the one quoted).
Considering the tour effect, the release of the new album, the SB, etc. I think this year HC downloads can be 150-200K. It would be so nice if someday we had the real number of downloads on iTunes.
