Please, if the goal is to spread the bullshit claimed here and there, just go to Wikipedia rather than UKmix

You're kidding, right? Don't you understand that Wikipedia can be edited by virtually anyone? It's probably the most unreliable website ever created. Music Box has sold, at most 28 million copies worldwide.

the Thriller "100 million" claims still make me chuckle!!! Guinness is just as unreliable as Wikipedia! Clearly accuracy isn't important to them.

I bought this book http://www.1000recordings.com and it's about the best list of album recommendations that I have come across...and I think I have bought every one of this kind.
Anyway...there is a picture of AC/DC with a note that Back in Black has sold over 42 million copies. I have written to the author and explained his error.

i think that 19,675,000 for THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION is too low...

so 19,675,000 for THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION are based only on certifications?!

Some questions:
in Google books, in the 2 September 78 issue of Billboard i could't find the "Special Bee Gees Tribute" suplement, from where Nelson took the 1-million figure for SNF in France, but i'm gonna believe in his research
sadly there are many Billboard issues from the second half of 1978 missing, probably with more sales figures for SNF and Grease.
Apparently SNF crossed the 15-million sales barrier in the USA already before 1979, could this be possible?

Edu, by the end of 1979, both Grease and Saturday Night Fever were up to 1,750,000 copies sold in Germany.

Thanks MJ and Edu.Saturday Night Fever was a monster and I still think it sold more than the Bodyguard worldwide.
Please post any info regarding sales of Spirits Having Flown which had sold 4 million in the US by April 21 1979 only 9 weeks after its release.
Besides of the sales breakdown done by MJ Spirits was also number 1 in Belgium and Portugal and huge in Russia according to the magazine.
Maybe the figures for both albums could change a bit.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

"Most successful album in chart is "Wish You Were Here" by EMI group Pink Floyd, for it has been in the listings for a staggering 247 weeks and has sold more than 1.5 million units in Germany alone" (Billboard, 25 Oct, 1980: 76).
Just unbelievable. "Only" platinum according to IFPI Germany, but I think that it has sold 2,500,000 by now. Pink Floyd's success in Germany is big, and was at its peak back then.

Thanks HUR.
I remember at some point in 79 reading the Spanish Magazine El Gran Musical that Wish You Were Here was one of few albums to pass the million mark in German History.
On the other hand France has been regarded by Floyd fans as the biggest market for them.

Yes, I think that France, Italy, Portugal and Spain are their biggest territories, without any doubt. In Portugal, I know that "The Wall", "Delicate Sound Of Thunder", "Pulse", "The Wall Live" and "Echoes" were #1 in their charts, and I don't know about their other albums there.
They are also very big in Argentina and Latin America. "Wish You Were Here"'s 1999 remaster edition was certified gold (30,000) just for sales between that year and somewhere in 2006. Incredible.
