#52 of 2011 - Most Played Songs and Albums That was year 8 of my chart!!

--Amy Winehouse finally grabs the chart's crown in the final week of 2011. The British icon may have died in 2011 but her music lives on and keeps her legacy alive. "A Song For You" is Amy's second #1 hit this year after "Take The Box" reached the top after she'd died. This week Amy holds the top of both charts, a feat she already reached earlier this year. Will Young's Runaway is the longest running top 20 song of 2011. It's back at #3 and almost made it one spot higher. But Limp Bizkit (along with Linkin Park) make a strange combeback this week --

Top 75 Artists of 2011
The Top 75 Artists Ranking is based on their chart performance on the Most Played Albums Chart

#75.(2) - Alicia Keys
Image
Alicia Keys was the second biggest artist of 2010. Her album The Element of Freedom was a super smash and remains the most played album of the decade.

#74.(new) Straight No Chaser
Image
Thanks to the hit series The Big C I discovered Straight No Chaser when their song Auld Lang syne was used in the second season finale. Their christmas album is incredible and I really do recommend it.

#73.(new) Bjork
Image
Bjork is crazy. I know about her for over a decade now and I always found her to be very interesting. I cannot skip any of her music videos when they come on. Her new album is great.

#72.(new) J.Cole
Image
J. Cole made my chart for the very first time this year. My favourite song off it, is his collaboration with Jay Z which became a top 10 hit.

#71.(new) A-HA
Image
A-HA are legends in Germany. We really have a soft spot for their music mix of pop and soft rock. Unfortunately, they called it quits in 2011. Their Greatest Hits album made my top 10 this year.

#70.(42) Alanis Morrissette
Image
Alanis Morissette makes the top 100/75 of my Year End Chart consistently over the past 8 years. Her biggest year was 2004 when he became the Most Played Artist.

#69.(re) Prince
Image
Prince is a legend and he re-appeared this year on my chart. Purple Rain has become one of my 10 favourite songs of all times.

#68.(new) Bushido
Image
Bushido is a German "gangster rapper". He debuts this year on my chart because I accidentally watched his biopic Zeiten Ändern Dich and I found it to be quite entertaining.

#67.(new) East 17
Image
I don't know where this came from but in 2011 I discovered my love for boygroups again and East 17 were one of my favourites. Several songs made it to the top 20 of my singles chart, too.

#66.(re) Eddie Vedder
Image
Pearl Jam's frontman released a haunting new ukulele-album this year which made it to my chart. He is an incredible songwriter and a very creative artist and makes the top 100/75 of my year end chart for the second time.

#65.(12) Christina Aguilera
Image
Her movie Burlesque did not chart in 2011 but her previous studio album Bionic did. It was just recently replaced in the list of the Most Played Albums of the Decade.

#64.(re) Pink
Image
With her it's either hit or miss lately. I loved her Missundaztood album but I hated the albums she released thereafter. However Funhouse was a huge hit on my chart and her Greatest Hits album held her high in 2011.

#63.(new) David Cook
Image
He is the only artist who has ever covered a Mariah Carey song which I absolutely adored. Always be my Baby was a #1 song this year. His new album, however, disappointed me.

#62.(new) Stevie Wonder
Image
He is one of the biggest legends in music of all times. He is one of very few artists who shaped the music industry and made it as bright and diverse as it was at its peak. He's a God.

#61.(re) Söhne Mannheims
Image
They are undoubtly the biggest German group of the past 10 years. They were quite huge on my chart, too. For them reaching #61 in 2011 is pretty huge and a sign of my affection.

What a drop for Alicia! :o I guess it's understandable as she hasn't released any new music this year.

I'm pleased to see: Alanis, Prince, Christina, P!nk, David, and Stevie so far. :)

#60.(15) Linkin Park
Image
Linkin Park were huge in 2010 but they couldn't keep up their momentum. I much prefer their new (much softer) sound.

#59.(new) Cee-Lo Green
Image
Several of his hits made the Top 20 this year. He's my favourite judge on The Voice because he gives great vocal advice.

#58.(new) Shayne Ward
Image
Obsession was a huge hit and the album of the same name made the top 10 of my albums chart, too. He's incredibly handsome.

#57.(new) James Blake
Image
James had one of the greatest electro albums of 2011. His sound is amazing.

#56.(18) Hurts
Image
Hurts had one of the biggest hits of 2010. They success shrinked but they weren't forgotten in 2011.

#55.(re) Thomas Newman
Image
Thomas Newman is one of my alltime favourite soundtrack composers. I discovered him in 2002 and own 4 soundtracks by him.

#54.(8) Brandon Flowers
Image
Flamingo was a huge hit last year. The album still ranks inside the top 10 of the Most Played Albums of the Decade.

#53.(49) Rihanna
Image
When will she finally win me over? Rihanna came back this year with another album which produced two hits on my singles chart, too.

#52.(re) John Lennon
Image
He more and more becomes my favourite male celebrity. I think there's never been anyone bigger and more influental than him.

#51.(45) Josh Groban
Image
I used to stan so hard for Josh Groban but his last album disappointed and pales in comparison to his previous works. There hasn't been a new album in 2011, though.

#50.(23) Celine Dion
Image
Miss Celine may not be liked by many people here but I'm a devoted fan. The first song I've ever heard by her was Think Twice and it was before the Titanic era.

#49.(72) Nsync
Image
Nsync make my Top 75 artist for a second consecutive year, who would have though? I hated them at first but I grew into them and I still think they are underrated.

#48.(77) Justin Timberlake
Image
What a coincidence that Nsync member Justin Timberlake follows them in this year's ranking. He has the 3rd most played album since I compile my chart. He could be so huge in my world (he already is) but instead of rocking my world with some hot music, he prefers to shag dem senoritas in Hollywood. What a waste.

#47.(75) Incubus
Image
Incubus are welcomed guests on my chart since the very first edition in february 2004. They released a new album this year which I really liked.

#46.(27) Owl City
Image
Owl City debuted last year on the back of a huge hit and album. The new album was, of course a success in my world, but I didn't like it as much as the previous one.

#45.(re) The Beatles
Image
Nothing needs to be said about the biggest music group of all times. I remain a fan.

#44.(16) Madonna
Image
Lady Madonna comes in much lower than last year. The Queen of Pop is overdue to release something new which i await unpatiently.

#43.(33)Bruce Springsteen
Image
My late aunt and I, we just adored him and followed his every move in the music industry. I discovered him in the 90's but it wasn't until 2002 when I became a fan.

#42.(new) Texas
Image
Texas helped me this year to find my inner smile. I bought their hits collection this year because I started my huge playlist prject and inner smile was one of the songs i re-discovered. My project still isn't completed.

#41.(new) Sia
Image
No! Sia's sudden success on my chart has NOTHING to do with David Guetta. I detest him but I always like her. Lullaby was a huge hit on my chart this year after it was played the the first season finale of The Big C.
