Well, I know I'm probably irrelevant roud here right now seeing as how my lack of posting in the last 6 months makes me irrelevant but I know there's a few old souls who might be interested in this!
So, over the years I've done a few recordings. My first CD had 5 original songs on it. The second 7 originals and a cover of These Words by la Bedingfield. The third was more of a covers affair with Your Song and Get By With A Little Help From My Friends along with a remake of an original and a new song written in the hour leading up to the recording! So there's your potted history to my recording history. And now this new one. No originals. I haven't actually written a song in a good year now which is quite depressing and I'm getting started on that in the New Year!
Anyway, a few weeks back I sang at my Uni's Christmas Ball (supporting B*Witched, who I got to meet and who are so cool by the way!) and these are my 4 favourite songs from the night.
Please bear in mind that they have been recorded on my friends computer, little to no editing/mixing and most of them done in one take because my parents were coming to pick me up! So yeah, I'm not entirely happy with everything about them but it would take me ages to get them perfect.
1. White Christmas
2. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

Oh Ollie, I'm sure you don't even need me to say I love your versions of these songs...it's so good to hear some new material from you Though you do realise there's only 2 tracks there and not 4?
Oh and I'm still waiting on "Dock Of The Bay"

Really beautiful covers, Ollie! There is one I didn't like so much though, 'Will You Still...'. Sounds very different but failed to grab me. I hope that's not the one you're very pleased with.
Ain't No Sunshine on the other hand gave me goosebumps - amazing, amazing!

Have listened to Ain't No Sunshine (excellent) and now White Christmas....not a bad one there either. Dude, you're brilliant, not much more needs to be added here.

Yeah, Ain't No Sunshine is the one I'm most pleased with. It did take an age to record though just because we had to record the vocals and guitar separately (which might explain why it sounds a bit out of sync at points) and the whole silent bit for the 'I knows' caused a few problems plus I was having a bit of a strop but it kind of worked out. The rest of it was done on the first take. I find it quite hard to listen to the recordings because there's so much I want to correct (e.g. the last verse of Sorry) but in the end, like I said, it would take days to get these 4 up to the point where I'd be happy so no point worrying about it.
The Will You Still... is a cover of a cover. Amy Winehouse did it for the 2nd Bridget Jones and I just loved it. I guess it's not to everyone's tastes!
The thing is though, I'm fed up of doing covers. Most songs are suited to an artists range and style which almost always isn't the same as mine so it will never work out exactly how I want it to. So yeah, definitely much more original stuff next year though. New Years Resolution!
Thanks for the support though!

Oh My God, you met B*Witched.
I'll download your songs and give you some words tomorrow...I'm just off to bed so sorry or I'd do it now. Night.

You do sound out of sync a couple of times on Ain't No Sunshine. I worked a little on the file, but there's not much that can be done as it is. Will upload the result one of these days.

And here's that slightly toyed with version I was talking about, which ended up sounding a little muffled, but it's one more link to the song anyway, so there.

Fantastic, as always.
I bloody love your voice. I swear on my grandma's grave I'd give you a record deal on the spot if I was working at a label, you deserve to be huge.
This post is highly unlikely to be serious. Please treat it accordingly. Unless it's music-related, in which case I'm damn well right.

If anyone's interested, I uploaded this vid of me performing Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word at an Awards ceremony a couple of weeks back. I think it's better than my recorded version but make up your own mind if you so wish! I might upload a few more today, dependant on whether I can get over some of the mistakes I make in some of them...

Great stuff Ollie, you did a different note for the word 'sad' each time which threw me a bit but meant it wasn't a copycat performance! I particularly tend to love the start of your songs where you stick to the melodies but do really subtle little changes and ad libs, it's a talent. I hope they clapped you because it's not shown on the clip, noisy buggers! Great stuff mate!
Come so far, well done darlin', we knew that you had it in you, you can do anything that you want - world is an oyster, don't disappoint us, TA!

I really like the arrangement, Ollie. Sounds like what Will Young would which is good! Nice performance.

Ollie, you are a very talented young man... you'd go down well with the pixie audience, no doubt you'd top the Weeeeeed On Pot chart!
