Reviving of this thread is a preparation for "this album was so much better than this crap" when MDNA be released. it seems

Why is anyone assuming that Hard Candy will be better than MDNA?

I'm not assuming anything. That's usually the reaction when someone releases a new album.

I'm one of them to be honest. Though I never really bashed the album, I just thought it wasn't that good.

Love this album now!! :D
It's kinda the opposite for me  I liked lots of songs when it came out but after a few spins I grew out of them.
The overall result is mediocre and so Loose-Nelly-Furtado-wannabe. That's what I disliked mosty about the album: The lack of originality!

EDIT: I've just checked my music library and realized that I deleted half the album at some point. That says a lot

I've always wonder why Across The Sky was never included on this. Such a shame it wasn't.

It was too similar to Miles Away...i think that was the reason at the time.

Across the Sky demo is way better than Miles Away in my opinion. They should've definitely included it on the album, instead of Miles Away!

"Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" has to be like one of the greatest Madonna songs ever.

One of her most generic track to date.
There's only one Queen
and that's MADONNA.

I liked this album a lot, I mostly just like a few singles from Madonna, and I was not a fan of Confessions on a Dance Floor, so this is pretty much the only Madonna album, I had as whole on my Ipod

Miles Away is a great song, among the best on HC. That being said I never heard Across the Sky before, but call me addicted now. It's awesome! It should've definitely been on the final tracklist.

Singles should have been:
4 Minutes (featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland)
Beat Goes On (featuring Kanye West)
Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
Miles Away

lol thx..

confessions is a monster of an album. genre-defining (or maybe re-defining), brilliantly produced, amazingly crafted in all parts etc etc..... but i find myself listening to HC way more... i think it is because HC has some of my all time fave madonna songs (she's not me, the beat goes on, heartbeat and incredible)... i can never get enough of these! and the rest is amazing too..

I agree with Beat Goes On, it really was a thrown away chance... But I wouldn't with Devil because many people would've seen as a Cry Me A River Part 2...
I would've taken Candy Shop as the 3rd single in America and Give It 2 Me worldwide. If the latter one was promoted correctly, it would've done way better and gave the album a real push...

Miles Away was also made to reach more: Top 5 in the UK, top 10 in Europe and top 20 in America...

This is definitely Nelly Furtado's most overlooked album.
