Janet is also one of my fav artists of all time (up there with Madge, CiCi, Whitney, Shania & Mimi), but honey, lets face it.

The only way she could se success is if she cater the her age demographic, which she refuses to do, and all this "working with other producers" hoopla she goes on about IM OVER IT..... Janet will never be what she once was without Jam & Lewis and until she smartens up and gets off of JD's jock she will never be the Velvet Rope/Janet/Control/All4U/RN1814 Janet we came to love, get you act together Jan, despite what you think you're NOT getting any younger
But you're a Ciara fan....

Been listening to this today, it's such a solid record. It flows so damn well, I even love the interludes. Janet at her best!

It really is. I still can't beleive how epic the start of the album is when i listen to it. SO MANY amazing songs, Feedback, Luv, Rock Wit U, Rollercoaster. WOW.

Wow, old thread but okay lol.

I notice it tends to be people who haven't heard other Janet albums that like this album, especially younger generation.
It is a good album, had it been properly promoted it might have had loads of major hits.

The ballads are the only disappointment on the album not because they are shit but because they don't flow well with the futuristic theme.

I was playing this about a month ago. Would have worked amazing without the interludes and some of the slower songs. But it's her best effort since TVR. 8-)

I always thought this was pretty great, but I agree about the fillers and slower tracks. It'd have worked a lot better as a short album, something like:

I.D. (Intro)
Feedback
LUV
Spinnin' (Interlude)
Rollercoaster
Rock Wit U
2Nite
Can't B Good
Good Morning Janet (Interlude)
So Much Betta
Play Selection (Interlude)
The 1 (feat. Missy Elliott)
What's Ur Name
Outro

I really hope she can get some tracks like LUV and Rollercoaster on the next album - love that direction.

I agree! The ballads feel out of place in the album.

My Discipline album (after so many listens throughout the years) would be:

01. ID (Interlude)
02. Feedback
03. LUV
04. Spinnin (Interlude)
05. Rollercoaster
06. Rock with U
07. 2Nite
08. Never Letchu Go
09. Greatest X
10. So Much Betta
11. What's Ur Name
12. Discipline
13. Curtains

I love them too especially Never Letchu Go but they do sound out of place ( kinda dated ) where else the uptempos had that futuristic sound which worked well.

Janet's worst album since 'Dreamstreet' in my opinion. It just doesn't feel like a Janet record (probably because she had very little input).

Still, it provided me with 4 of my all time favourite Janet songs: Feedback, LUV, Rock With U, Curtains.

LUV never gets old! It really deserved a proper release, the music video would have looked amazing! :-?

Parts of it are a bit poor, but I do love the breakdown when they clap and jerk together. That's bits so cool.

"The 1" and "What's Ur Name" are atrocious.

"Greatest X" and "Never Letchu Go" sound alike and are generically bad.

"Can't Be Good" and "Rollercoaster" are okay but have no lasting value.

"Feedback", "2nite", "Rock With U", "So Much Betta" and the filthy "Discipline" are the best. 8-)

I actually thought this was her best album of the 2000's. I just wish she had more input in her music.

The ballads were the boring part of this album. A straight up uptempo record with the inclusion of "Curtains" and "Discipline" would have made it better! 8-) 8-)

They got about half the album right with this, there was definitely a strong foundation in place. Rock with U, Feedback, Let Me Know, 2nite, Can't B Good and LUV are great but the rest fell off very quickly. Not to say that the rest were bad they just weren't the kinds of records she needed to make a real top 40 Mariah-esque comeback. Plus the fact that the promo was all over the place and radios unwillingness to play her didn't help.
