Sounds hot!

For Departure, McCartney sought out many of today's biggest hitmaking producers. "Leavin'" was produced by Tricky and The-Dream (Rihanna's "Umbrella"), while other producers rounding out the album include Sean Garrett (Chris Brown, Usher), J.R. Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), The Clutch (Ciara, Mary J. Blige), and Eric Hudson (Kanye West), who Jesse describes as a young Quincy Jones. The chemistry between Jesse and Sean Garrett inspired the anthemic "Rock You," which features Sean Garrett's vocals on the track. Indeed, the sonically new and edgier pop/R&B sound is the perfect soundtrack to Jesse's growth as a songwriter and young man. The songs on Departure explore several facets of growing pains and interpersonal relationships. The UK and the US recently experienced a taste of McCartney's poignant songwriting with "Bleeding Love," a song he co-wrote with One Republic's Ryan Tedder for Brit Award nominee and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. "Bleeding Love" became the top selling single in the UK in 2007.

Since releasing his debut solo album, Beautiful Soul in 2004, McCartney quickly went multi-platinum, racking up #1 chart positions all over the world, from Australia to Italy to Japan. McCartney garnered countless award nominations including an American Music Award for Best New Artist, an MTV Award for Best Pop Video, as well as several Kid's Choice and Teen Choice wins. As an actor, Jesse garnered two Emmy nominations, starred in the hit TV show "Summerland", and recently lent his voice to Theodore in the box office smash "Alvin & The Chipmunks."

this album is fairly good,iv heard of him before but not really heard any of his music. I know he didnt use to do rnb music but a very good direction to go into as this kind of music is big around the world at the minute. This shouldnt really be in the POP section of the forum!!!

from Billboard:

Jesse McCartney's third studio set, "Departure" (Hollywood), starts at No. 14 with 30,000. The new album was preceded by the single "Leavin'," which recently became his first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. He also earned a No. 1 this year on the Hot 100 as a co-writer of Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love."

ouch with the sales figure :-? but it's his best peak on the Billboard 200, since his first two solo albums both topped out at No. 15

i'm a dude but i'm into this album, it's nice. It's a shame the sales and position, i'm hoping that at least the sales won't drop 50% for next week

It has fat chance of not dropping 50% -- it's down to #50 on iTunes and plunging fast. :o

it's really a pity :-? the more I hear of this album the more I like it, especially "Leavin'", "It's Over", "My Baby", and "How Do You Sleep"...

at least airplay for "Leavin'" is rising quickly :D up to No. 39 on the Hot 100 Airplay

#71 on iTunes now. =/

Leavin' is rising again on iTunes, as is its Airplay, but it doesn't seem to matter - the bigger the hit, the smaller the album sales. :-?

not QUITE that simple, though  it's true that the all-time biggest sellers in the US come from albums with weak sales ("Low", "Crank That", "Apologize", "Hey There Delilah", etc.)

...BUT, there are still exceptions like Fergie and Leona Lewis, who've managed to rack up impressive downloads and album sales! :D

...granted, that probably won't the case with Jesse :( HUGE pity! this album deserves to be heard! Still a bit too soon to tell, but I think I like this even more the Justin's FS/LS (which this is relatively similar to)
