Totaly agree, without those countries it won't be the same at all. Can we imagine a "World Cup" with all best players of the world missing (Messi, Ronaldo, Ribery among others)?

You can see here rankings of the European zone. The first of each group is qualified, the 8 best seconds of each group will face each other, 4 of them getting qualified.
Portugal have already no chance of ending first. Their chances to get into the 8 seconds are very limited as well. Next round will see Denmark against Sweden, if Sweden win it, Portugal will be basicaly dead. They can barely win their last 2 games praying for Sweden to loose 3 points to hope a qualification... for the Play-off. They really need a miracle to be on World Cup 2010.
