Ramadan Mu'barak to all our Islamic brothers and sisters.

It always amazes me how devoted Muslims are in Ramadan - as Christians we could learn a thing or two for Lent!

(btw, I think comments of "Happy Ramadan" are somewhat misguided, as it's a season of fasting and penitence, not really a time to be happy and celebrate, no? I would feel odd if someone said "Happy Lent" to me one Ash Wednesday)

^^^ Yes my cousins say that too! They live in Iran, and even though they are not very religious (and don't pray regularly etc) they say it's great fun fasting for the Ramadan month!

ramadan shouldn't be about only the fun but you also should pray because no pray is no ramadan.

if you're really feeling the islam, then it doesn't feel like nightmare at all because all mulims know that it's a blessed month and a family month to enjoy.. being so close with your family is just really one of the reason that makes it a blessed month. :)

Ramadan mubarak!

Well, I actually sleep most of the time. That way the time goes by faster. LOL

But the food on al-iftar is the most yummiest ever^^

I enjoy being around my family more often during ramadan since we always go for tarawih at night!

Enjoy your ramadan my dear fellows!!

Ramadan Mubarak all , I'm abit late , Ramadan is great month as it' really makes you be a better person even a bit (as fasting not only from food , but from bad behaviour , bad talks) anyway

@ Matthe_dixon ( maybe ramadan is not bout being happy , it's about feeling people who lives in hunger and who are deprived from the implest things FOOD , BUT it's also a chance for muslims to get closer to got by praying , reading holy Quran and doing O'mra (going to the Ka'aba) so it' happy at some point ,

PS: didn't know there's alot of muslim here :D

Definitely. I feel the same way in Lent. Devoting more time to God (in whatever form we believe in him) is a very important part of the penitential season of the year.

Maaian - it's interesting to know the Jewish perspective on Yom Kippur - I don't know nearly enough about Judaism, and interesting the way it is felt. We would probably feel very similarly in Christianity (the idea of fasting during Lent sounds WAY too hard!) and so I have to commend our Muslim brothers and sisters for their dilligence during Ramadan.

(Oh, and I made a bit of a silly mistake today - I went into the shop across the road from the church to get some washing up liquid to use as we were having a coffee morning. I said "If any of you are free you should come over for a cup of tea..." and then realised it was Ramadan and the whole family are Muslim! Whoops! )

Can I also say how amazed I am (as someone else has said) just how many Muslims we have on the site! As a Christian, I'm starting to feel positively outnumbered!

Yeah ALOT of posters here have suprised the hell out of me lol. I totally wouldnt think they were muslim, for some strange reason. It is a nice thing to see!

One of my closest friends was Christian, and before she moved back to Africa she would join me on an odd day here and there during Ramadan to fast too. Observing the basic rules of it, just for self control. That was so cute of her!

But really that is what Ramadan is about. Self control. Are you strong enough to be able to tame your desries and phsyical needs, all in the name of pleasing your Creator.

This year it has been super hard for me as im living alone in London, away from the family! Dont have that feeling of excitment and boundless positvity as I normally have during this month, coz I miss being around them and spending this month doing all the lil' things that we do to make it special!

But I shall endevour on! lol..

Heh - I'm sure that verse from the Qu'uran has an almost identical verse somewhere in the Christian bible, but I can't remember for the life of me where it is!

and yeah - gotta love Revolta's nun in his avatar!
