A load of VERY random names there! Tampa Tony? Killah Mike? (isn't that how his name is spelt?) Amil-Lion?

Talib Kweli I guess deserves a top 100 hip hop acts of all time on legendary status, and the Roots - well they're just ace aren't they!

FAT JOE

FACTS
POSITION: #70
SCORE: 30
Career Glance: Fat Joe is probably the undisputed King of Latino-oringined rappers. He and Big Pun burst into the scene as charismatic overweight rappers in the mid-90's. His biggest hit to date is "What's Luv" (featuring Ashanti & Ja Rule) which broke several chart records. Next to those he is known for rap-classics like "We Thuggin", "Make It Rain", "Get It Poppin'". Under his belt he has nine hit albums, which all spawned at least one Top-40-rap song. Currently he is working on a sequel to his most successful album to date 2001's Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E.), called Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (J.O.S.E. 2).

GYM CLASS HEROES
Image

FACTS
POSITION: #68
SCORE: 32
Career Glance: MC Travis McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley became friends at their local high school's gym class in Geneva, New York. They officially came together in 1997. The original GCH began playing birthday parties, clubs, and festivals which eventually led to larger venues throughout the northeast, including two years on Warped Tour (2003, 2004). During 2004, guitarist Milo Bonacci parted ways with the band and was replaced with current guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo. In mid 2005, bassist Ryan Geise left the band and was replaced by their friend, bassist Eric Roberts. Gym Class Heroes' lead singer Travis McCoy won MTV's Direct Effect MC Battle and as a prize, appeared in Styles P's video "Daddy Get That Cash". The group released three more CDs from 1999 to 2004, called "Hed Candy," "Greasy Kids Stuff," and "Papercut Chronicles EP". Their video "Cupids Chokehold" features appearances by Katy Perry and Patrick Stump. They also occasionally tour with New York songwriter Tim William on keyboards

PLIES
Image

FACTS
POSITION: #67
SCORE: 32
Career Glance: Plies might be quite new to the game (he started in August 2007 with his debut album "The Real Testament") but he has accomplished quite a lot already: four top-twenty-singles, two top-five albums and double-gold certification by the RIAA within 2 years. He is best know for hit songs like "Shawty" (featuring T-Pain), "Bust It Baby Part 2" (featuring Ne-Yo), "Hypnotized" (featuring Akon) and "I'm So Hood" (with DJ Khaled, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross & T-Pain). His most recent album "Da ReaList" features contributions by Ashanti and Sean Garrett and was released just a few months after his second record "Definition of Real" in December 2008. Obviously he doesn't have plans to do a little hiatus because his new album "Goon Affiliated" is to be released in the next month.

SHAWNNA

FACTS
POSITION: #65
SCORE: 32
Career Glance:She is the first female artist signed to Def Jam through Ludacris' Disturbing tha Peace Records. She is a former member of the female Chicago rap duo Infamous Syndicate and she is also the daughter of the legendary blues musician Buddy Guy. She is known for her rapid fired delivery and her sexual themes. She is one of only seven female rappers (others being Lil' Kim, Left-Eye, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Da Brat and Remy Ma) to ever have a #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 with 2003's "Stand Up" featuring Ludacris. Already "Worth tha Weight" (2004), "Block Music" (2006) under her belt she is getting ready for a third studio album in collaboration with long-time-friend Ludacris announced to be called "Battle of the Sexes"

SOULJA BOY TELL 'EM
Image

FACTS
POSITION: #63
SCORE: 33
Career Glance: Being probably the biggest newcomer in the hip hop industry since 50 Cent. Soulja Boy Tell 'Em is already a brand of its own, which stands for simple but catchy and danceable music. His record-breaking debut hit "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" definitely spawned the dance of 2007 just like the Macarena in 1999, the Las Ketchup Dance in 2003 and the Single Ladies Dance in 2008. While his debut album managed to crack the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 his second album barely made the Top 50. None the less he is responsible for chart and club hits like "Soulja Girl", "Kiss Me Thru The Phone", "Marco Polo", "Turn My Swag On" and "Yahhh!"

WU-TANG CLAN
Image

FACTS
POSITION: #63
SCORE: 33
Career Glance: The legendary Wu-Tang Clan consists of 9 American rappers: RZA, GZA, Raekwon, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Masta Killa, and Ol' Dirty Bastard (who is now deceased). They were formed in (and are generally associated with) the New York City borough of Staten Island (referred to by members as "Shaolin"), though some of its members originate from Brooklyn.

Making music professionally since 1993 they are on of the most respected and critically acclaimed groups in music industry. Thei one only international smash it is eventhough having just mediochore success is still rememberef for its creative The Flinstones-style and its hypnotic and seductive beat. It's a pitty that none of the successful members made an entry on the chart as solo artists.

One of the most critically and commercially successful hip hop groups of all time, Wu-Tang Clan rose to fame with their uncompromising brand of hardcore rap music, and their success enabled all 9 Wu-Tang members to pursue solo careers, with varying degrees of success. They have introduced or launched the careers of numerous other affiliated artists and groups, often collectively known as the Wu-Tang Killa Bees.

TINCHY STRYDER
Image

FACTS
POSITION: #62
SCORE: 34
Career Glance: Tinchy Stryder started at the age of 14 on pirate radio sets in East London with other well known grime MCs such as Dizzee Rascal. His stage name was derived from the video game, Strider, a video game he grew up with, and Tinchy derives from a nickname given to him due to his short height. The debut album by Tinchy Styder Star in the Hood was released on 13th of August 2007 on Takeover Entertainment and didn't gather him much attention, while his 2009 release "Catch 22" can be considered his breakthrough record, spawning three top-3-singles including 2 number ones with each Amelle from the Sugababes and N-Dubz...

TQ
Image

FACTS
POSITION: #61
SCORE: 34
Career Glance: Bye Bye Baby is probably is signature line and somehow really true because since 2001's "Let's Get Back To Bed Boy" featuring German songstress Sarah Conner, which hit the the top twenty all arround the world TQ couldn't place any of his solo songs on the charts. The American rapper, who debuted in 1998 with the album "They Never Saw Me Coming" is responsible for hip hop tunes like "Westside Story", the already mentioned "Bye Bye Baby", "Summertime" (with Another Level) and "Daily" which all hit the UK top ten (except for the latter one, which was a top-twenty-hit)... The last song to make any impact after "Let's get Back to Bed Boy" was a cover of the famous crocket theme called "Crocket Theme (R&B remix)" feat. calssical-music legend Hans Zimmer and German Idol contestant Phillip Bühler. It entered the German singles chart at number 52.
Voter's Voice:
Matthew Dixon wrote:Not in my top 6, because he's borderline in terms of his hip-hop credentials. However, for me, the whole reason I like TQ is because he's not singing about the sort of slushy R&B "laydeez" style stuff, he's telling it like it is on the streets - much the same way that any rapper would do. This entry is going out to the Westside!
