Week 3

Thirty-eight of the personal charts in last week's UKmixParade have been updated, and three more new ones are added - from davez, LoveCB and so_done - so this week's chart combines sixty-two current personal top fives. Four hits from the first week that didn't quite have enough points to remain in week two have bounced right back, while there are eighteen new entries. Five of those are charting with more than one contributor - and one of them has suddenly appeared at the top end of six personal charts, crashing straight into the top ten as a result! And, appearing now in no less than seventeen of our individual top fives, we have a new number one.......

Hey, I've only just discovered this thread and I see you have given songs the some points as last week, such as Little Boots "Remedy" which has been given 5 points but on my chart this week it has fell to #2 therefore it should be given four points. Great idea for a chart btw :wink:

Well, Jack, considering CZB posted the chart 3 hours and 18 minutes before you posted yours, do you expect that CZB must be a mindreader in addition to checking each of over 60 personal charts when compiling the chart???

irishguy28 has already posted a very convincing defence.......but this is an issue that may affect others who update their charts on Sundays too.

In "Week 2", Jack's chart was actually the very last one updated before I did the compilation - so I used that, as it was his most recent. Looking back, it would appear that this was two weeks on from the one that went into "Week 1". However, that was still the most current chart at the time of this week's compilation - as Jack became one of the first to post a new chart later in the day. Not the first, though - in the intervening 3 hours amd 18 minutes, Thriller, Flocon and mostfierce2009 were all already in with new updates! All of these will go into next week's combined chart - unless, of course, any of them are updated again before then.

However, what I could alternatively do is, impose a more precise cut-off point, to apply every week - say, midnight (UK time) as Saturday becomes Sunday? Then personal charts posted after that point would all count towards the next week - and this would mean that those who update their charts every Sunday, at variable times, could be sure that each one would be reflected in a different week of the UKmixParade? It probably doesn't directly affect very many contributors - but has anyone any views on this?

CZB, I think it hardly matters. And even if you fix the time that you check the charts (and it surely adds extra work for you because you then have to check the date/time of posting of the latest update in each of the 60-odd threads to see if it came before or after the deadline), you can be sure that each of the 60-odd constituent charts won't be posted with the same regularity, meaning that some users will have the same chart counted twice (ie update running late), or will have some posted charts not counted (ie updated early), depending on how regularly (or not) they post their updates.

I would instead advise anyone who typically updates their chart on Sundays to delay posting their update until after your new chart has been posted, if it is of consequence to them.

This is a massive job you've undertaken - I can't even bear to think how much of your free time it must use up! But it's a very interesting chart.

I will do my best to update my chart and post it on saturday evenings but at the very least sunday mornings
