POST-WEAKEND CHART UPDATE: The smoke has cleared, revealing that Michael Buble’s Friday release on Reprise will be #1 by a mile. Our preliminary projection on the Canadian crooner is 125-130k, while KISS’ Wal-Mart exclusive is headed toward 104-105k. The final numbers will magically appear some time tomorrow. (10/12a)

Yes, big drop for Kiss : firstly predicted around 160-170k, then around 120-130k and now just 100k... But, fortunately, Michael Bublé is strong with only three days !

Yes, one thing is easily visible : only one album so far this year is above the 500k mark (Eminem)...

Awful, yeah. Hopefully, Alicia Keys and Lil' Wayne's are gonna be big debuts, I guess.
And maybe...Usher? (?)
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & BARBRA STREISAND celebrating their 9th #1 albums this year. Still making history...

I hope... I predict around 400k for Lil'Wayne and Usher and 500k for Alicia Keys and Michael Jackson.

Does anyone know how many copies of the Kiss album Walmart ordered? They can't be too happy with that performance if they ordered more 500k

No idea and I don't find this information... But 500k would be very reasonable. And with a 100k debut, it's possible to reach that.

I got a feeling they ordered more then 500k, though. The promo they did for it was in the realm of AC/DC. I think they ordered 2 million AC/DC cds up front?? I don't think they would do that for Kiss, but 1 million maybe.

In any case, it's normal if the results of Kiss are not comparable at the results of AC/DC : the two bands are not comparable in terms of popularity at the US. And this album is, with new tracks, a compilation.

Ouch! Bad sales
At least, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift keep selling decently and steady.

Definitely, AC/DC is much much bigger in the US. Unless all the Kiss merchandise that is in Walmart really helps to move CDs in the next few weeks as Halloween gets closer... It may be tough for Kiss to sell 500k.
I don't care much for Sonic Boom, but I was hoping Kiss would get to # 1, they kind of deserve it after 35 years. O' well.

I dunno, KISS are huge in America, but not so much as a selling unit. Their tours always do well and they have done well with merchandise, yet surprisingly their albums have never been that huge. I am surprised at least Alive and Destroyer weren't #1 albums in the 70's, or even top 5.

^400k for Lil Wayne shouldn't be that much of a stretch, his last album did open with a million.
I don't think MJ will open with 500k considering it's just a repackaged GH with a few new songs. Number Ones and The Essential have largely filled up the need for a MJ collection in the past few months and I think a lot of people will take to downloading the "new" tracks instead.

Yes, the times are hard...
The success of Miley is really impressive : she will be around 600k this week ! And, of course, tha amazing Taylor above 4 million before the Deluxe version !

Why ? You predict how much for these big albums ? Just 200k for Usher and 300k for Alicia Keys ?

Alicia should do huge, but Usher's last album was a huge disappointment compared to Confessions. Unless he comes back with a huge hit along the lines of "Yeah", I don't see his new album outselling Here I Stand.

Yes, "Tha Carter III" was just enormous, but I think he is already very low in comparison with last year. And the singles are disappointing. And the album is not the event of a new "Carter". So definitely 400k would be very good.

I agree of course. But the movie will be a massive promo for the album, in particular if it's an enormous success. And I tink all the fans will be present for this first posthumous release during the first days, and I hope the country counts more than 300k fans !
