Is Bieber really contending for the one million US opening sales? I don't think so with his new, mature sound. :-? :)

I actually don't mind his sound now, over 700K for him is quite high, isn't it?

I would appreciate it for the music industry but I'm not gonna bring out the parades and trumpets either.

If his album and singles were similar to My World 2.0, not that I want them to be, it will possibly scan a million or more, but "Girlfriend" isn't doing the wonders that "Baby" did to ignite huge interest and unprecedented hype towards the new era. We'll see though.

If My World 2.0 had a total of 6 mio.+, I wouldn't doubt that Believe could debut with 1 mio. or more... But it "only" stands at 3.1 mio. and I can't see his next one being so frontloaded... Unless Believe sells far more than My World 2.0 but is this possible?

Bieber might be hotter than Usher, but trust me, Bieber won't still be as hot 18 years into his career as Usher is.

There's still hope for rock music after all as these three albums hold on very well. Especially for Of Monstres & Men and Alabama Shakes, two debut acts.

The likes of Bieber will obviously transition into acting, something like Justin Timberlake's career path is now. Usher will always be in the music industry, just like R. Kelly, etc.

Either one of them scoring No.1 would make a good story.

Oh no doubt. I'm a big Alan Jackson fan so I pull for him but Adele makes good music too. I'd rather the best album so far this year be #1 but Adele being #1 wouldn't bother me much

I don't think Bieber has the widespread appeal Timberlake has. Do you know how embarrassing Bieber is to adults? He's not even a guilty pleasure to a lot of adults the way One Direction's music is, he's viewed the same way we used to view Hilary Duff.

USHERING IN A NEW #1

New Album Will Grab Top Spot on Next Week’s Chart, Rush Also Debuts

June 13, 2012

Usher may be Looking 4 Myself, but you can find the RCA R&B star at the top of the HITS album chart next week.
His new album will debut at #1 with a total between 120-130k, 200k less than the first-week sales for his last album, Raymond v. Raymond, which came out Easter week in March 2010 with 329k following his mentoring appear on American Idol. That one went on to sell 1.3 million.

The results are based on one-day sales reports from those music retailers who haven’t converted their stores to laser-tag warehouses.

Canadian prog-rock icons Rush’s debut for the Roadrunner label, Clockwork Angels, is the next biggest debut, with estimates in the 85-95k range. That would match, or best, the total of their last album, 2007’s Snakes & Arrows on Atlantic, which bowed with 93k. The veteran band’s following is among the most loyal—and unabashedly geeky—in all of rock.

New Elektra Brit award winner Ed Sheeran’s debut + is headed for a surprisingly robust 40-50k bow, while MCA Nashville country-rocker Josh Turner’s Punching Bag is headed for 35-40k.

WB southern hip-hopper Waka Flocka Flame’s Triple F Life: Fans, Friends & Family looks in the 25-30k range.

Hollywood Records rocker Grace Potter & the Nocturnals’ The Lion the Beast the Beat, the studio follow-up to their 2010 debut, should sell between 20-25k. That self-titled album has sold 235k to date.

UMe’s Now Country 5 appears to also be in the 20-25k area.

Album sales were up 5% vs. last week, down 5% vs. same week last year and down 3% year to date.

Track sales were down 1% vs. last week, up 3% vs. same week last year and up 6% year to date.

TEA sales were up 3% vs. last week, down 2% vs. same week last year and flat year to date.

Is it time to light up some cherry bombs yet?

me too, but at the same time, neither Climax nor Scream (and a shame as I like both songs) have set the charts afire.

I knew those 300k+ estimations were ridiculous - I hoped for 200-250k but it seems like that was also too much...
But I'm really surprised about the huge decline compared to Raymond vs Raymond!

Great for Ed Sheeran: I'm really surprised that all those unknown artists manage to debut kinda high in the US at the moment :o .

Waka is not doing too good I must say - his previous album opened with 37k on its way to 330k+ sold so far... 25-30 for this after so many club bangers and featured tracks is really, really low... I was expecting him to break 50k easy...
