At this point, 2nd single very crucial, bad 2nd single really made bad impact during E=MC2 and Memoirs era, after hit lead singles. Now, because her lead single is not doing that well so far (hopefully at least it becomes a moderate hit and catch attention), hopefully her team is smart choosing the right 2nd single.

I'm glad Mariah is aware of her Asian Triumph!

American lambs need to step-up and show Mariah some love.

Insiders say Mariah Carey could be back working with ‘X Factor’s’ L.A. Reid, despite her new ‘Idol’ gig

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainmen ... -1.1130272

MARIAH CAREY could be working with the enemy soon. Sources close to the new “American Idol” judge say that after Carey releases her new album later this year with Universal she’s “more than seriously considering” returning to working with “X-Factor” judge L.A. Reid, who is now at Sony. Reid, formerly CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group, is widely given credit for reviving Carey’s career in 2005. He joined Sony in July 2011 and is now chairman and CEO of its Epic label. The record exec and the singer remain close friends, and one source even says Reid was instrumental in Carey’s joining “Idol.” And another “Idol” judge, Randy Jackson — who also serves as Carey’s manager — wants her to work again with Reid. Jackson thinks “L.A. is the right guy for Mariah,” says the source. A spokeswoman for Carey says “Mariah is still happily under contract with Island Def Jam” and that “she just wrapped the video for ‘Triumphant (Get ’Em),’ the first single from her upcoming album.”

True, but he's also responsible for the mismanagement of the E=MC² era thus "killing" her career in 2008. So I don't know if it's such a good idea... Well, she could work with Walter A. again at Sony, but it might not be as magical as it was back in the day.

She's equally to blame for whatever we're not happy about the emc2 era imo

I don't think Bye Bye (The song) was such a bad idea. I just feel like people were mad, when she had a bikini shoot in the video for a song like that, even though i don't personally see the big problem with it. Didn't she also get married right out of the blue in the way that her relationship with Nick was covered in the press at the time?

She wanted Migrate as lead single and other songs as next singles. She only walked away when she realised that she wasn't getting what she wanted and that the era was already over. So no, about the whole E=MC² project, she's definitely not to blame.

She is also to blame for the mess of her eras. E=MC², no matter how great it could have been (especially for the fans) with all the shoulda-woulda-couldas in promotion and potential hit single releases, was just doomed to flop. Let's not forget, most of her performances (including the SNL "Migrate" and the Jimmy Kimmel "Side Effects" performances) were less than stellar and didn't gain buzz, so that could have also been a factor as to why she underperformed.

It's not like any of the urban cuts would have easily turned the era into a somewhat Emancipation 2.0 in sales. With the rise of Gaga, Rihanna and Katy, and the return of hype heavyweights Britney and Beyoncé in the scene, Mimi still had to work her way real hard in getting the "19th #1" that was pressuring the era. It wasn't just meant to happen that way for the era, sadly. The album wasn't as strong enough as the front-running mega hype it had.

She was to blame but it wasn't to do with her performances.

She dropped the whole project, cancelled promo, after she got married and didn't care what happened there after. Her main focus was her marriage and music took a backseat for the first time in her career.

And it took a backseat on Memoirs. That was to get her over the miscarriage. She was crying herself to sleep every night and Nick told her to work on an album to get some focus again.

Since she got married her career has essentially been on hold. She has released music but it was really only a side project, not her main goal and priority anymore. She wanted a family and now she has it.

This is the first time since before she got married that she is back with music and career being a major priority again. She has been working so hard on this album. Idol will hopefully give her great exposure.

Obviously career will always be second to Nick and the twins from now on but this is the first era since TEOM that she is truly inspired and focused again.

I agree with this! and I never thought about Mariah making Memiors to get over her miscarriage that explains why she came back to soon with Memoirs!
