Capello was drunk as hell while forming the squad, i guess. Heskey is in (8 goals in 57 matches!!!), Bent is out. Walcott, one of the most talented young players in England, is out. Baines is out, he is definitely better that Warnock.
what a pity :-?

My Predicitons

Winners = Argentina
England = Quarter Finals
Surprise Package = Australia

Golden Boot = Lionel Messi

Everyone put their predictions in like above (replace England with your home country) and i'll edit the first post of this thread so we can have a laugh at those of us who fail miserably with the predictions when New Zealand lift the cup :D

Argentina? With probably the worst coach in World Cup? Their squad is strong, but Maradona isn't coach.

But Maradona is the best player ever in the world. That is all that matters.

Walcott was deservedly left out, headless chicken springs to mind. Shame we've got Heskey again, who still can't hit a cow's arse! Still, I suppose he's quite experienced. Experienced at being rubbish in front of goal that is! :P

This would be my choice to start against the USA:

James
Johnson - Ferdinand - Terry - A.Cole
Lennon - Gerrard - Lampard - J.Cole
Rooney - Defoe

I'm not at all concerned about Ferdinand missing out, he's a liability. If Cappello actually picked players based on form like he originally said he would then Rio would be nowhere near the team anyway. As for Gerrard, i'm hoping the captaincy will inspire him to play a lot better, he's a top player for Liverpool but a complete dud for England.

Well, not this season. I expect a semifinal from England but nothing more. Maybe a bronze medal.

I'm glad Dawson's been called up now, he should have been in the XI anyway (way ahead of Rio), never mind being in the squad. Unfortunately it's pretty obvious he's behind King, Upson and Carragher in Cappello's mind. I certainly wouldn't want Upson or Carragher playing instead of Terry, and King's a crock so can't rely too heavily on him.

Winners = Brazil
England = Bronze
Surprise Package = Switzerland
Golden Boot = Wayne Rooney

This World Cup is the most unpredictable out of the last four, I suppose. There is no clear favourite, the only thing that bites the nail of the head is that european teams had always failed to lift the trophy when the tournament was held on other continents.
Spain were always regarded as favourites but they previously had only one semifinal and I can't see why things should change this time around. England may fail on penalties as they like to do, probably to Germany. Brazil is the favourite with two big weaknesses: head coach and goalies.

Mikel's been ruled out the tournament too. Chelsea players are dropping like flies at the moment! Ah well at least they'll be fresh for next season! :lol:

Still 6 days and finally the football party can start.
And my prediction on page 1,for the first game,that Mexico can beat South Africa could come true.
Because last thursday Mexico played well in a friendly game against Italy,beating them 2-1.
Still a lot of work to do for the Italians.
And like many others i'm hoping to that we gonna have some suprises for the tournament,but i'm afraid that the logic will be respected and that the great teams will finally reach the final stages.
