Radiohead - not a huge fan but Paranoid Android made me sit up and listen
REM - I like this band a lot. They are stayers and have proven this. Great songs and lyrics - faves include It's The End Of The World, Imitation of Life, Losing My Religion, Everybody Hurts
U2 - absolutely brilliant. One of my fave bands ever. These guys are the best in the world IMO. No current or recent rock band can claim to the worldwide appeal these guys have had and their humanitarian work (thx to Bono) is outstanding. Faves: With Or Without You, One, Walk On, Where The Streets Have No Name
Bon Jovi - these guys are stayers as well and I dig em big time. Their songs pump me up esp. when played loud. Faves: You Give Love A Bad Name, Livin' On A Prayer, Always, Dead Or Alive.
Echobelly
Beck - Loser and that's bout it for me.
Sum 41 - saw these guys live and liked their work. Fave songs: Hell Song, Fat Lip.
Metallica - very kewl band. Still enjoy their hard rock and deep voiced singing. Faves: Enter Sandman, The Memory Remains, The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters. Their Symphony Orchestra album was brilliant.
Garbage - like without lovin em. Prefer their older stuff from Version 2.0 vintage.
Feeder - don't own albums/singles from them cz they aren't known out here but Buck Rogers is one of my fave songs (thx to the wonder of the Net) and Just The Way I'm Feeling is fantastic.
Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill was her best and always will be, u can't top music like that. Faves: Head Over Feet, Ironic.
No Doubt - like these guys. Changed a bit but like their progression so I'm stickin with em. Faves: Just A Girl, Spiderwebs, Hella Good.
Nickelback - produced one of the greatest single rock tracks in the form of How You Remind Me. Too Bad was great as well but not as embraced as much.
Fleetwood Mac - Wasn't expecting to see these guys but I do like em. Old skool and produced some bloody awesome tracks which I still like. Faves: Everywhere, Don't Stop, Dreams.
Jimi Hendrix - suprisingly not overly-fussed. Can appreciate his guitar mastery tho!
Marylin Manson - Mechanical Animals remains a fave album of mine, it's eclectic nature is unbelievable for a guy who wouldn't expect to diversify musically. Faves: The Beautiful People, Rock Is Dead, Posthuman, Mechanical Animals, The Speed Of Pain.
Rammstein - OK these guys are psycho, setting themselves alight and the rest of it. Get the adrenalin pumping alrite! Faves: Du Hast, Sehnsucht, Tier.
Alien Ant Farm - don't know much other than Smooth Criminal (which was great), Movies (which was OK) and Stranded (which didn't grab me).
Stereophonics - never really liked these guys that much.
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood was OK, 19/2000 was annoying.
Gemma Hayes
Disturbed - really liked Prayer.
Staind - It's Been A While & Outside were both OK.
Limp Bizkit - I have Chocolate Starfish... but Rollin and Rearranged are prob my faves.
Adema
Depeche Mode
Madness - It Must Be Love and House of Fun were sorta comical in their production ay?
Bowling For Soup - only know Girl All The Bad... and that was a kewl song.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - very well known out here for obvious reasons! Faves: Where The Wild Roses Grow and Into My Arms.
The Cardigans - yeh kewl band hey. Very Indie-like and crank it hard as. Faves: My Favourite Game, Erase/Rewind.
Coldplay - here we go.... Let's just say that I like em and find their music bloody awesome.
Catatonia - Road Rage remains my fave.
Nirvana - classic rock. Hard hitting and melodic at the same time. Faves: Smells Like Teen Spirit ( a massive #1 smash in Oz) and Lithium.
Incubus - these guys are pretty kewl as well. Faves: Drive and Are You In?
Ash
Blur - really liked Song 2, how wicked was that?! Apart from that, it'd probably be Country House and Tender.
Hole - got into these guys late with the whole Celebrity Skin album that I own. Faves: Celebrity Skin, Awful and Dying.
Travis - ah well I liked Sing but not much else really.
Kelly Osbourne - u kidding?
Muse
Red Hot Chili Peppers - awesome, awesome, awesome. Best band I have ever seen live and their music is just endless. Ballads, rock, boppy, rappy - u name it they cover it. Faves: geez...Under The Bridge, Parallel Universe, Breaking The Girl, Otherside, Can't Stop, Dosed, Easily. Californication is my fave album.
Dubstar
Semisonic - i really liked both Secret Smile and Closing Time. Chemistry lacked exactly that.
Tenacious D - great! Tribute was huge, Wonderboy wasn't but I still like it.
Santana - only his collaborations really. Smooth was great as was Maria Maria and Why Don't You And I? is my new fave.
Space
Alisha's Attic - what a flashback! Alisha Rules The World was pretty alrite.
JJ72 - only recently exposed to them thx to my friends in the Rock forum. Oxygen etc.
Avril Lavigne - I'm likin here. All 3 singles have been fantastic but Sk8er Boi rocked me that bit harder.
Foo Fighters - kewl band. Faves: Monkey Wrench, Times Like These.
Crazy Town - Revolving Door and Butterfly (Extreme Remix), play them anytime!
The Hives - I enjoyed Hate To Say...
The Strokes - Someday gets repeated on my stereo a lot.
The Vines - they rock really really hard. Live they go crazy and rock hard, its a bonus if Craig goes nuts (which he always does). Debut album was awesome, faves: Get Free, Ain't No Room, Ms. Jackson.
Texas - ah yeh good stuff. Faves: In Demand, Put Your Arms Around Me.
Toploader - so so.
Easyworld
Ozzy Osbourne - for his time yeh.
Black Sabbath - see above.
The Electric Soft Parade
The Clash
McAlmont & Butler
Lifehouse - now we're talin. No Name Face is one of the best albums I own. It's full of absolute classic like Hanging By A Moment, Sick Cycle Carousel, Breathing, Unknown, Everything. There's not one song I don't like on it.
The White Stripes - not yet excited bout them but I do like some selected stuff.
Badly Drawn Boy - not a real fan.
Matchbox 20 - Yourself Or Someone... was awesome. Mad Season went down a level and their latest offering is poor. Faves: Kody, Push, 3am.
The Detroit Cobras - John I will have to listen to more but I hv Cha Cha Twist.
Manic Street Preachers - they have had some brilliant tracks haven't they? Faves: If You Tolerate This and Australia (of course!).
INXS - one of the best Aussie bands ever. Their tunes were consistently high-quality, well produced little numbers known over the world. You can't replace Michael Hutchence, he was awseome. Faves: Need You Tonight, Never Tear Us Apart, Baby Don't Cry.
Good Charlotte - good punk rockers here with solid tunes. Was guna go and see them live but my mate piked so I'm not. Faves: The Anthem, Hold On, The Little Things.
The Cranberries - really liked them in their day. They went a little bit too common when they tried to emulate their earlier success IMO, their best stuff is their earlier stuff. Faves: the rockin Oz #1 Zombie, I Just Shot John Lennon, I Can't Be With You. Big following out here....
Linkin Park - nu-metal rockers with class. These guys know how to write songs. Fave song has to be In The End but One Step Closer is another fave.
The Offspring - great stuff here too. Altho they have changed I still like em - faves: Want You Bad, The Kids Aren't Alright, All I Want, Don't Pick It Up.
Counting Crows - Mr Jones was kewl, I've always had a thing for Anna Begins and Big Yellow Taxi is catchy as well.
Andrew WK - Ready To Die is my fave with Party Hard coming in second.
Audioslave - Cochise is good.
Blink 182 - yeh its hard not to like eme really. Faves: What's My Age Again, Story of A Lonely Guy, First Date.
Green Day - always enjoyed their music without being a huge fan. Like all their stuff tho. Faves: When I Come Around, Minority.
Idlewild - from the few tracks I've heard I like what I hear. You Held The World and Modern Way Of .. are both great albeit similar and Yesterday Went Too Soon is great to listen to as well.
Zwan - Honestly is fantastic and I'm considering buying Mary Star of the Sea.
Papa Roach - Last Resort is just powerful stuff and She Loves Me Not comes second.
Bryan Adams - old fart with some classics. Faves: Run To You, Summer of 69.
Hell Is For Heroes - good rockin band here.
Five For Fighting - Well at least Superman was great!
Machine Gun Fellatio - good choice here John. These guys are clever and funny with their music. Originality is a big thing in today's music scene and these guys have it. Pussy Town is just 3 minutes of risque light rock with suggestive overtones and music to match. The Girl Of My Dreams (Is Giving Me Nightmares) is good as is Unsent Letter >> check em out.
Barenaked Ladies - I have Stunt but only a couple of good tracks there.
Bif Naked
The Bloodhound Gang - yeh kewl! The Bad Touch is one of my all time faves, other goodies are The Ballad of Chasey Lain and Why's Everybody Always Pickin On Me? Fire Water Burn of course!
Hot Hot Heat - don't mind that song of theirs some1 pointed me to.
The Beautiful South
Evanescence - Bring Me To Life goes off.
Silverchair - rockin band this one with a multitude of brilliant songs. Very very famous in Australia and have gone down in history with some classic rock tunes like The Greatest View, Miss You Love, Tomorrow, Cemetery, Ana's Song, Freak, Abuse Me, Without You, Israel's Son, Luv Your Life and more. Seeing them in April.
Rancid
Violent Delight
Bjork - not a real fan.
The Wannadies - You And Me Song and that's bout it!
Silver Sun
Ben Folds Five - Apart from Brick and 1 Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces.......no.

I can see my self getting easily bored with this, so i'll just do a select few

Please give your comments on the bands below. If you've not heard anything by them, please say so.

(It's a bloody long list...feel free to stop when you get bored!)

Radiohead- Liked 'Karma Police', but can't listen an album of theirs in its entirity as it gets kinda repetitive.
REM- Great! I love Nightswimming, Shining Happy People, Everybody Hurts, Losing My Religion....and lots more!
U2- I like them, but I've never really become a big fan, they are really talented and have produced some brilliant songs over the years.
Bon Jovi- I've liked a couple of their songs, but I don't really consider myself a fan.
Sum 41- I really like them- they've got a great fun sound and some cool songs (I haven't heard an album from them yet though)
Metallica- Never been a big fan...
Garbage- really good- especially 'Adrodgyny', 'When I Grow Up' and 'Only Happy When It Rains'
Alanis Morrisette- One of my favourite artists of all time. Jagged Little Pill is an absolute classic, and both her other albums are great too. My favourites are 'Head Over Feet', 'Ironic', 'Mary Jane', 'Uninvited', 'Thank U' and 'Hands Clean'.
No Doubt- Another great band- I especially loved 'Tragic Kingdom' and it remains one of my favourite albums. My favourites are 'Don't Speak', 'Spiderwebs' and 'World Go Round'.
Nickelback- Good band, I really like 'How You Remind Me', and from what i've heard of their album, it sounds really good.
Jimi Hendrix- Pure Genius! I really love 'Purple Haze' and 'Stairway To Heaven'.
Marylin Manson- Freaky guy, but I like 'Tainted Love' , 'Sweet Dreams' and 'The Dope Show'.
Alien Ant Farm- I really liked 'Smooth Criminal', but I haven't heard much from them since.
Staind- I love 'Break The Cycle'.
The Cardigans- Yuck. The lead singer's voice really annoyed me, and I'm one of the few people I know who doesn't like 'Lovefool'.
Coldplay- I like them, despite many poeple saying they're boring. They're a band that'd great to listen to when you want to relax, and they have a good mellow sound.
Incubus- I'm a big fan of them- especially 'Drive', 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Are You In'
Travis- I liked 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me'.
Kelly Osbourne- She's okay, not talented, IMO, but I quite liked 'Papa Don't Preach'...I never really got into 'Shut Up' though.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Brilliant, timeless band- I've liked them since i was about 8, and they sing quite a few of my favourite songs. My favourites are 'My Friends', 'Zephyr Song, 'Aeroplane', 'Otherside' and 'Under The Bridge'.
Santana- Genius! I love his collaborations, esp. 'Game Of Love', 'Smooth', 'To Zion' and 'Maria Maria'. 'Shaman' is one of my favourite albums at the moment.
Alisha's Attic- I really liked 'I am I feel', but haven't heard any of their more recent stuff, and never heard the album.
Avril Lavigne- I like the album, and 'I'm With You' is great.
Texas- I don't really like them for some reason.
Lifehouse- I really like them, 'Spinning Around' and 'Hanging By A Moment' are both great songs, and I'd love to hear their albums. I thought the one about the circus (can't think of the name right now) was really underrated.
Matchbox 20- I love both 'Mad Season' and 'Yourself Or Someone Like You' and I'd really like to hear their new one, as 'Disease' is great. My favourites are 'If You're Gone', '3AM', 'Push' and 'Disease'.
Good Charlotte- I really like their first album (I just can NOT think of the name right now) and I'm looking forward to seeing them in concert in a few weeks!
The Cranberries- I'm a really big fan of them- I love 'Linger', 'Zombie' and 'In Your Head' (and one which I can't figure out the name of- it goes something like 'happiness was when i was young, and we didn't give a dmna'...can anyone help me out there?)
Linkin Park- I love 'In the End'...actually, I really like that whole album.
Counting Crows- I like 'Big Yellow Taxi', but I haven't heard much else from them. I'd like to listen to one of their albums.
Blink 182-I really like them, they have a cool upbeat funky sound, and really catchy songs.
Green Day- Great band- 'International Superstars' is a good album, and 'Time Of Your Life' is a favourite of mine.
The Bloodhound Gang- 'The Bad Touch' and 'Fire Water Burn' were both cool.
Silverchair- I love them, especially 'Ana's Song', 'Miss You Love', 'Abuse Me', 'Tomorrow' and 'Across The Night'.
Ben Folds Five- Very cool, I love Ben Folds' solo stuff as well.
Bush- I remember loving them when I was about 10, but I can't for the life of me remember any of their songs!
New Found Glory- I like 'My Friends Over You'.
Sugar Ray- They have a really cool summery sound.
The Beatles- Great! I won't list all my favourites from them, but I'm a big fan.

 okay- so maybe my 'select few' turned into a 'select hundred'!

REM - This band are great. They have made some all time classics such as 'Everybody hurts' and my favourite video ever in the form of 'Imitation of life'
U2 - Some of their songs are alright but I wouldnt buy an album of theirs
Bon Jovi - Brilliant! They make consistently good songs, and their new album is fantastic!
Garbage - Some of their songs like 'Androgyny' are really good but again, I wouldnt buy an album
Feeder - I've only liked a few singles
Alanis Morrisette - Great! Over the last few years, she has made 3 great albums and loads of classic singles! One of the most original artists!
No Doubt - 'Rock steady' is a brilliant, diverse album. Gwen's vocals add to the band's appeal
Nickelback - His voice irritates me!
Marylin Manson - F***ed
Stereophonics - Some of the songs are ok, but sometimes Kelly's voice annoys me!
Gorillaz - Awful! Awful!
The Cardigans - Some classic songs, but some duds as well. They're still great!
Coldplay - They make good songs, but Chris Martin's voice is bland, boring and pisses me off!
Catatonia - R.I.P  Who can forget 'Mulder and scully'. One of the most memorable bands of the 1990's.
Blur - They used to be good in their 'Country house' stage. Now, they've lost it!
Kelly Osbourne - "My father is famous. I can't sing"
Santana - A brilliant musician with some memorabel songs!
Alisha's Attic - Back to my early days. I got a load of their singles, but they're last singles weren't as good!
Avril Lavigne - Really really good! She's nothing special but she has made a good album!
Texas - One of my faves from the list. I love listening to their greatest hits. I had never realised how many good songs they made!
McAlmont & Butler - I liked 'Fallin' but thats about it
Bryan Adams - He's made a lot of classics, but last year's 'Here I am' was awful!
Aerosmith - Not my cup of tea
Wheatus - Brilliant live! Their version of 'A little respecr' is "awesome"

Where are The Calling on the list?
When you left I lost a part of me, It's still so hard to believe
Come back baby please cos We belong together

Good grief - that's a ridiculous list! Ah well... here goes

Radiohead - Really like some stuff - can be a tad depressing at times
REM - One of the greatest rock bands ever - particularly good in the early 1990s
U2 - Another of the greatest rock bands ever. Both greatest hits packages are well worth buying
Bon Jovi - Truly amazing. Every single thing they've done is a classic.
Echobelly
Beck - Really eccentric and pretty good
Sum 41 - Heard it all before, but it's still good
Metallica - A bit on the noisy side for me
Garbage - Pretty good - deserved their success
Feeder - Really good - deserved more success earlier

Please tell me you're joking on the above list. If not, you need to listen to some material from 10 of the biggest names of all time (in the UK at least). I'd've thought Bryan Adams would have got to Germany at least!

*Takes deep breath* Okay, just a couple... yeah right!

Radiohead- Hmm, nothing special to me, but yeah they're pretty good.
REM- Automatic for the people is a great album.
U2- Ugh. Basically.
Bon Jovi- Now that all depends on my mood. There's some really great stuff out there though.
Echobelly- Who?
Beck- Overated. Always nominated for something that somebody else better deserves. IMO.
Sum 41- The charting singles are really great; the albums are a bit blah.
Metallica- I have a lot of respect for them, that's for sure, but I don't listen to them much.
Garbage- Used to majorly dig this stuff, they're very cool.
Feeder- # She's got a brand new car, looks like a Jaguar, it's got leather seats, and a CD player player player player... # It's my happy song, I love these guys!
Alanis Morrisette- Hands clean... I'm digging that.
No Doubt- The older stuff is good, Hey baby is not my thing.
Nickelback- Flash in the pan maybe? One great song then bleh.

Are we nearly there yet? *yawn*

Staind- I like the less depressed sounding ones. The ones that don't make you want to say Cheer up mate.
Limp Bizkit- No. Just no.
Bowling For Soup- I'd like them if people didn't keep singing their songs at me. They don't seem to take themselves too seriously, that's cool.
The Cardigans- Gran turismo is usually hanging round my recently played pile.
Coldplay- No comment!
Catatonia- Every one's a classic, they rock.
Ash- If I was going to join an already formed band, this would be the one.
Blur- I'm listening to the hits album right now as it happens.
Hole- Not really heard enough to have an opinion.
Travis- Hmm, used to like them, now they bore me.
Kelly Osbourne- Calm down love! I often feel her voice isn't quite strong enough for the songs, but the current one isn't bad.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Most people like the chili peppers don't they? Californication was great.
Tenacious D- They always look like they're having a lot of fun making the videos. Tribute is pretty cool.
Alisha's Attic- Alisha doesn't rule the world but I am, I feel is still a classic.
JJ72- I can't recall anything about them.
The Strokes- These guys are just infinitely cool!
Matchbox 20- Ahh Matchbox 20, Rob Thomas has such a unique voice.
Good Charlotte- Lifestyles is just so damned catchy.
Counting Crows- Without doubt, my favourite band. Oh but not Big Yellow Taxi, that's a bit bleh.
Green Day- Minority is cool, they also know about just having fun with it.
Idlewild- American English, yay.
Zwan- Who's the girl who just seems to hang around throughout all their interviews and never say anything?
Hell Is For Heroes- We've established I've only heard the one song, and even then I wasn't aware of it. They have the weird video with the paint running up the walls... that messes with my mind, man!
The Beautiful South- Pretty universal I'd say. Yep, like them a lot.
Silverchair- Diorama is my favourite album, definitely; they're amazing. *waves her little I'm-from-the-UK-and-I-know-about-them flag*.
New Found Glory- I'd still pick my friends over you. Well, the music channels liked that a lot. It all grows on you.

Okay I give up now. Would there have been a prize for talking about them all...? Just time for two more comments, now which am I likely to pick, eh?

Toploader- Heee! They're great. You should all come to Eastbourne and see why they make such good music, spend lots of money while you're here  Yeah, I know Magic Hotel sorta sucks but shh! They're also really nice people. As are all persons from Eastbourne, yuhuh.

Easyworld- Another good reason to come here. I've been listening to these guys a lot recently, and that's your fault John. They've become my, "stereo-dwellers", lol.

Nah - I'm being really serious about all that. I don't listen to German radio either [if you haven't noticed, I happen to be American!]. *shrugs* I don't have a huge range of music simply because I have to rely on word-of-mouth.

You'd be right there and all! Ah well, Disturbed... don't know all that much about them, from what I remember they're sort of heavy and depressing at the same time, so no.

That solves something we'd been wondering about in the Australia topic.

Hmm, not sure whether never having heard of some of those bands is more like a medical condition. Something where you forget really great music in very short spaces of time? [not meant in a nasty way]

Well done, you sharp-eyed little people, you. I did indeed put Feeder twice. Well spotted. (It was so long, I couldn't be arsed to check through it!)

Might just be me, but I can't actually see why everyone on the planet was so offended by that Drowning Pool record...it was a very badly timed release, but obviously that was beyond their control. It's just typical shouty nu-metal as far as I'm concerned.

And I WILL fill in the list, very soon.

Aaah, I knew it, i've been meaning to ask you if you were, but figured it'd be a weird question. Something gave me the impression that you were...

Well, you can't win'em all..as your sig shows...I'm kinda in disbelief that Avril didn't kno who The Sex Pistols were. WTF? I gues it's OK if the average Joe doesn't know'em, but she's supposedly this huge punk chic

the song simply sucked...I'd normally be into something like this too, but um, noooooo. I'll stick with Disturbed & Godsmack thank you. The dude's voice was kind of annoying too (RIP).

When the track was pulled from tv & radio here because of 9/11 it was already on it's way out anyway. it'd been playing for quite some time.

Ahhh that signature made me laugh. That reminds me of something Britney Spears apparently said when talking about her 'I Love Rock n Roll' cover, and she said "I love Pat Benetar" :o

I loved that 'Bodies' song by the way, I put it on my self made rock compilation ;) I never realised it was out around 9/11 and didn't see any connections though.

That solves something we'd been wondering about in the Australia topic.

Hmm, not sure whether never having heard of some of those bands is more like a medical condition. Something where you forget really great music in very short spaces of time? [not meant in a nasty way]
Lol, well, for one thing, I heard the Cardigans on the radio this morning on the bus to school! I've liked the song I heard (don't know the name!) but I never knew it was by them. :P

I probably have heard a lot of those bands, I simply just don't recall it.
is the shade of the night
the piercing sounds you make
soaring higher, higher now
and once left in my wake
your memory is nothing but the scars on me.

Could I just point out to Dashira...your signature. Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) was the lead singer of The Sex Pistols. Sid Vicious was the bassist. 8-)
This post is highly unlikely to be serious. Please treat it accordingly. Unless it's music-related, in which case I'm damn well right.
