HDD Prediction:
SRC/Universal Republic Canadian R&B singer Melanie Fiona returns with The MF Life, her sophomore follow-up to 2009’s The Bridge, with first-week estimates in the 23-27k range.
Ugh! :-? I might possibly never really get into the album as whole, but it has some hot songs, and she deserves to sell much more than that! Hopefully they will turn out to be wrong, when she debuts with much more

I was expecting a bit better, what with '4 AM' doing pretty well now! It's an INCREDIBLE album that deserves to be #1 in reality!

Still that album sold 350k in total, so its debut was nearly just 1 out of 100 of the final sales!

Hopefully the new album will do nice numbers over time too!

My copy FINALLY arrived today, despite me pre-ordering it... HMV didn't get any in stock until Tuesday. Everywhere else was out of stock too! Worth the wait though as I was expecting the 12-track standard version to arrive but the UK standard version is the 17-track US deluxe! :D So I'm happy. ;)

This Time performance with J. Cole at Jay Leno:

It seems like 6 AM is not off to the best start, eventhough it's coming off the success of 4 AM, so if 6 AM starts to get a negative bullet on Urban radio soon, i think they should just move on to this!

Still like the album and it grows on me every day...

Now only #23 in Switzerland + Change The Record #35, that's very weak because Switzerland was her biggest country so far (#1 with Monday Morning, #5 with Give It To Me Right and #3 with The Bridge which was 50 weeks in the Top100!)...

Change The Record will hopefully make this album explode! Deserves to sell 500k at least!

Melanie Fiona's second album "The MF Life" bows at No. 7 with 34,000. Her first, "The Bridge," debuted at No. 128 with a 4,000 start in late 2009, but eventually climbed to a No. 27 peak on March 13, 2010.

I think a top 10 debut is good considering this doesn't really have a hit single on it. They should have released the track with B.o.B. worldwide, that's one of the more commercial tracks on the album!

And don't forget she went from the initial 23-27k prediction to 34k, so that shows that her sales weren't frontloaded. With another Urban hit, this could have some great longevity.

Not convinced with this effort, I much prefer The Bridge. The MF Life is definitely more RnB sounding, but there aren't any immediate songs that I feel the need to repeat, a la 'Johnny' and 'Monday Morning'.

I do love 4AM though.

What's taking them so long to release a third single? Hasn't "4am" been out ages now? It's hardly the most commercial song on there!

I think they were preparing to release 'This Time' not sure if it's been sent to radio or anything though.

Definitely! "This Time" is good and one of my favourites on the album but "Change The Record" is such an obvious single, it could be a crossover hit too.

It really is a great album though... a great mix of R&B, hip-hop, blues, soul and a bit of rock for good measure. She's produced two amazing albums now, she's REALLY underrated.

My favourites at the moment are:

"Wrong Side Of A Love Song" (my #1 favourite!)
"Change The Record"
"This Time"
"4 AM"
"Running"
"Gone And Never Coming Back"
"L.O.V.E."
"Rock Paper Scissors"
"6 AM"

This performance of "Wrong Side Of A Love Song" (Live for Rolling Stone) is just beautiful!

Well they sent 6 AM for Urban adds a month ago, but it fell from #73 to #76 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week, which was its 4th week. Normally i don't think it's good to switch to another single fast, but i hope they do that this time as it doesn't look like 6 AM will be the hit she needs... She has also been performing This Time a few times already, so i hope it will be released very soon! That song is hot! :P
