I think John has proven in the last couple of weeks that he speaks only truth and knows music when he hears it.
To be honest I'm don't know what else he's said in the past few weeks, but I'll take your word for it.

same! I hate when she over sings :( keep it simple
The fact is there isn't any oversinging. What you hear is a woman displaying her emotions, like any woman would in a real situation, with the exception that Beyoncé's singing.

God knows I'd hate a record full of "Halo"s and "I Was Here"s...
Love you for this.
So many want Beyonce to stick in that nice pop vocal selection. Let her explore and strengthen her voice. As a fan I want an artist I support to develop and grow.

Have you not heard 4? She forces her voice in nearly every track. It puts me off Best Thing I Never Had and even sometimes 1+1 both songs would benefit from smoother vocals.

As for strengthening her voice, can it get much stronger? What Bey needs is to explore new techniques to make her voice sound different. She should work on new technical skills rather than strengehening. (Not that she even needs either cos she's **** amazing the way she is)

I Miss You, Party, Countdown, End Of Time, Schoolin' Life, Dance For You, Run The World.

That's half of the album, where she doesn't do anything vocally extraordinary.

I'd say she forces her voice in Love On Top, Rather Die Young, I Was Here and, possibly, Start Over.
How's that "nearly every track"?

Nobody said she couldn't explore her voice and push herself. I just don't want to hear that on every track... again.

Cool! :D

I hear there will be some rock and uptempos on the album. I hope there's lots and lots of belting "I Care"-style.

Totally agree with Why Don't You Love Me and Suga Mama. :D
+1

Kitty Kat has a funny video an that's all. Party was a grower, but is too simple.

Also, It's already on Round 10, but in case any Beyonce fans wanted to get involved and didn't realize it existed, I'm hosting a Beyonce Album Tracks Survivor.

I agree with you but I do agree too with whoever says that she needs to tone it down a little for the next album. "1+1" and "I Care" still sound so forced to me and it just takes the emotion out of the song IMO. "Start Over" actually sounds kinda "forced" too, but it's just beautiful, as well as "Love On Top".

The other songs sound perfectly fine to me. "Rather Die Young" and "I Was Here" are amazing vocally.

Just my opinion though. :P

Dead @ forced. A forced voice would have cracks and strains(a la Xtina). You just can't have forced vocals along with resonance. All the belts on 4 were diverse, effortless, textured, expressive(aggressive or soulful) and resonating. All the songs on 4 are within Beyonce's vocal range and she has no problem performing them live. Beyonce isn't one of those artists that can't replicate their studio vocals live. It's high time some of y'all start accepting her vocal growth and evaluation. I hope with the next album, Beyonce keeps showing us her versatility in her vocals and never restrain or limit her vocal arrangement genius.

This is so true, especially on "Love on Top". I actually loved how she 'forced' her voice (or whatever the proper term is) on "Rather Die Young" and "Start Over". It works very well for the emotion and nature of those songs. It was those vocals that made me love those songs especially since I used to skip them in favor of the more uptempo tracks when I first heard the leaks. As for "Love on Top", I used to wish she sang in full voice up to the highest octave when I still enjoyed that song, but now, the song is very annoying to hear, in my opinion, it's not as pleasant to the ears as compared to the first two songs I mentioned.

I think some are confusing urgency and aggression on some of these songs with "forced". When Beyonce basically weaves through some of these songs with different tones, ranges and belts(soft/aggressive). Absolutely nothing forced in a connected range, seamless transitions between ranges and effortless belts. I rather Beyonce sing out in full voice than whisper her vocals and limit her true vocal power.
