That was a sloooooow sales week. It's never been the case before that the No. 100 album sold 11% of the No. 1 album. 21 alone sold only 12% less than the No.-1-album.

12 (18) Live At The Royal Albert Hall 34 weeks (No. 1 for 5 weeks) - 52% of the No. 1 album

Backcatalogue Albums Chart:
3 (10) 19 127 weeks :D

1 - US sales fell
2 - Position increas doesn't always mean sales increase.

I was thinking about Thriller and 21 and their respective place in history. Forget the discrepancy of sales (time and climate and technology will never allow that to be a fair comparison. Plus MJ has sold between 65-130m depending on who you talk to.) I think if 21 tops Thriller with most weeks in the top ten on billboard (and especially if it passes Born in the USA), it will go a long way in validating the importance of this album. It is more than just this generations Thriller. And one day it will stand above comparison (not above Thriller, above comparison to Thriller). Or I hope so any way. Damn MJ fans. Just kidding! Love MJ! Lol.

May have had an increase in some countries, but also may had a decrease in others so it balances it out.

You shouldn't have put the "just kidding" comment, I'd have liked to see what the MJ stans would have rushed in to say... 8-)

AUSTRALIA:

84 (78) Someone Like You
93 (90) Rolling In The Deep

Both are still 5 x Platinum .

13 (14) 21 (four entries above) *13 x Plat.*
80 (70) 19 *2 x Plat.*

04 (04) Live At The Royal Albert Hall *4 x Plat.*

^ how close is 21 to going 14x Platinum in Australia?

If the wiki list is to be believed, only 10 albums have ever achieved that milestone.

21 must have sold around 35k units since it was certified 13 x Platinum. It means that it must halfway between 13xPlat. and 14xPlat.

Yep, only 9 albums have reached 14 x Plat. in Australia. The Best Of ABBA was never certified under the ARIA era but has sold 1.1 million units.
