It explains quite a lot, doesn't it? I wonder if we should still expect that new single at the end of the year? :D

Why not? If it is a Bond song, she doesn't need to promote it. She could shoot the official video (let's say) in August. Just put her on chair and everybody will be satisfied

What makes you think Adele will make an official video? :D I always assumed if she did the Bond theme she herself would be nowhere to be seen, and we'd just get a few clips from the film cobbled together instead.

Damn, really happy for her! Truly happy. Really.
BUT, I feel this will be the perfect excuse for her just to disappear into nothingness. I feel like that is what she would like to do the most. And I can honestly understand that, the way she handles fame different from every other artist, ever.
No one would have the balls to do this, everyone would keep milking the success of 21 and every album that follows until its last drop. She doesn't.

At the end, that means, in my opinion, that she will lead a happier life, not being over-exposed and all, but that eventually us fans will be getting much less ocncerts, much less albums, much less of her. And I can't help but feel a little bit sad by that (even though I know she is happy). I know, it's all very very selfish.

loxi, I totally understand what you mean, but I can't help thinking we wouldn't have got many concerts, albums or appearances anyway. That's just the way she organises her career - there was a long hiatus after 19 too. She did say in that recent NBC interview - when she possibly already knew she was pregnant - that she still wanted some "clout" in the industry in 10 years time, so it doesn't sound like she plans to disappear altogether - but with Adele long periods of nothingness have to be expected sadly

Very brief article mentioning that 21 was the best-selling album in the first half of the year in Australia.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainme ... 6412776027

Hope there'll be lots more like this from other countries over the next few days - hopefully with a bit more detail and hype to push sales a bit :D

Longest current consecutive runs on the UK album chart (top 100):

1. 155 - Lungs, Florence and the Machine (since 18.07.2009)
2. 95 - Teenage Dream, Katy Perry (since 11.09.2010)
3. 91 - 19, Adele (since 09.10.2010)
4. 84 - Loud, Rihanna (since 27.11.2010)
5. 75 - Doo Wops And Hooligans, Bruno Mars (since 29.01.2011)
6. 74 - 21, Adele (since 05.02.2011)

I'll update this each week and when the other albums hopefully fall off and we are only left with 19 and/or 21, then I will get correct stats for historical albums from the Chart Histories thread, to compare Adele's albums with historical ones.
