She doesn't have a cute singing voice (Sunny, Jessica, Yoona, Sooyoung, Yuri) or a big powerful voice (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun and also Jessica) - her voice is quite husky and raw I think and it doesn't always fit with the group's songs. Also, we don't get to hear her much because she's the main dancer of the group.
But, one thing that's for sure, whenever she gets to sing live - she is always on point. She had a few lines in "Run Devil Run" and she ALWAYS nails them when they sing live.

Girls’ Generation‘s Hyoyeon earned high scores for her exciting jive dance on ‘Dancing With The Stars 2 (DWTS 2)’.

On the June 1st broadcast of ‘DWTS 2?, Hyoyeon and her partner Kim Hyung Suk put on a fierce and rhythmical jive stage.

Hyoyeon who looked charming in a polka-dot ensemble flawlessly pulled off the jive despite the speed of the song, blowing away each member of the audience.

Fellow group member Seohyun was spotted in the audience as well, as she had made time out of her busy schedule to come support Hyoyeon and her partner.

Tifanny shouldn't have sung RITD. Jack would suit better for her voice.
Taeyeon should have sung RITD. She was good singing Take a Bow, but it limited her vocal ability.
SeoHyun did okay singing Jack, but it isn't a good song for her at all. Take A Bow would've been a better choice.
They slayed Cater 2 U. It was better than those other covers together.

Yoona is basically the face of the group. She is the queen of endorsements and magazines. I am not surprised that she is on the front line.
Hyoyeon isn't that underrated, everyone says she is the best dancer of the group. That's a lot.

She's the most beautiful! I mean look at her!! She is so unique and special - and I think thats the problem. People in Korea don't appreciate her as much as they appreaciate, for example, Yoona. Yoona's the typical Asian girl - and Hyoyeon isn't.

Blame it on the cameraman. It's not Yoona's or other girl's fault if the camera wants to focus on them.
