I've figured I don't like half of my CD collection anymore.sambo9 wrote:I just realised that I don't like most of the music I own.

Well sell them and buy new CD's that you are interested in!sambo9 wrote:I don't think I'll be interested in playing about 75% of my CDs ever again, and that goes for a lot of the stuff on my iTunes as well. It's either plain rubbish or it just no longer interests me.
this never works. when I re-discover some of my self-made compilations from 1999/2000 I get always stuck spinning the whole thing, thinking how awesome the music is and the good ol' times were.mimifan09 wrote:Or just do what I did and hide them away so that one day, many years from now, you can look back and ask yourself what was I thinking back then!!
try world music.. that's for the undecided.sambo9 wrote:But that's the problem: what am I actually interested in?crazycrazy wrote:Buy new CD's that you are interested in!
About 2 weeks ago I gave about 40 CDs to charity! I was going to trade them in at CEX/hmv or somewhere but that would have required me to take them all into the town centre (and look scuzzy) so I thought I would feed my soul and donate.sambo9 wrote:I don't think I'll be interested in playing about 75% of my CDs ever again, and that goes for a lot of the stuff on my iTunes as well. Well it might have that effect too. Depends on how good the music is that is hidden away.stevyy wrote:this never works. when I re-discover some of my self-made compilations from 1999/2000 I get always stuck spinning the whole thing, thinking how awesome the music is and the good ol' times were.mimifan09 wrote:Or just do what I did and hide them away so that one day, many years from now, you can look back and ask yourself what was I thinking back then!!

I think I need to, but it's hard to know where to start because I've been in a bubble for so long.crazycrazy wrote:You sound like me a few years back, time to explore babe!sambo9 wrote:But that's the problem: what am I actually interested in?crazycrazy wrote:Buy new CD's that you are interested in!

If I ever had to give away one of my CDs, I would cry and never come out of my room again.stevyy wrote:me 2.PosziMC2 wrote:I love cleaning my CDs.

There's so much music out there it can be ridiculous to find somewhere to start, Last FM is wonderful for recommending new artists/albums but if you only listen to a few genres it won't take you too far out of your bubble.sambo9 wrote:I think I need to, but it's hard to know where to start when you've been in a bubble for so long.crazycrazy wrote:You sound like me a few years back, time to explore babe!sambo9 wrote:But that's the problem: what am I actually interested in?crazycrazy wrote:Buy new CD's that you are interested in!
Is Jessie J's album that bad?sambo9 wrote:Wow, really? I'm looking at my bottom shelf right now and I'd quite happily bin all of it. Especially Jessie J.
Ooh, I'd never considered Last.fm! That's a good idea, thanks!crazycrazy wrote:There's so much music out there it can be ridiculous to find somewhere to start, Last FM is wonderful for recommending new artists/albums but if you only listen to a few genres it won't take you too far out of your bubble.![]()
