The Official thread for the best game series ever made:

The Legend Of Zelda!

Image

The Legend of Zelda, occasionally called Legend of Zelda or simply Zelda, is a high fantasy action-adventure video game series created by Japanese game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It was developed and published by Nintendo, with some portable installments outsourced to Flagship/Capcom, Vanpool, and Grezzo. Considered one of Nintendo's most important franchises, its gameplay consists of a mixture of action, adventure, and puzzle solving. The series centers on Link, the playable main character and protagonist. Link is often given the task of rescuing Princess Zelda in the most common setting of the series, Hyrule, from Ganon—also known as Ganondorf—who is the primary antagonist of the series. However, other settings and antagonists have appeared throughout the games, with Vaati having recently become the series' secondary antagonist. The story commonly involves a relic known as the Triforce, which is a set of three omnipotent golden triangles. Link holds the Triforce of Courage, Zelda holds the Triforce of Wisdom and Ganon holds the Triforce of Power. The protagonist in each game is usually not the same incarnation of Link, but a few exceptions do exist.

As of April 2010, The Legend of Zelda series has sold over 59 million copies since the release of the first game, The Legend of Zelda, and continues to be successful worldwide. The original Legend of Zelda is the fourth best selling NES game of all time. The series consists of 15 official games on all of Nintendo's major consoles, as well as several spin-offs. An American animated series based on the games aired in 1989, and individual manga adaptations which are officially endorsed and commissioned by Nintendo have been produced in Japan since 1997. The newest game in the series is "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D" for the 3DS and a later game called "Skyward Sword" will be released for the Wii in late 2011.

There is so much to discuss about these games, and I've noticed UKMIX consists of a good numbers of fans, so let us use this thread to discuss everything related to Zelda.

Last night I decided that it was time to finally play through every Zelda game, in chronological order. Therefore I began to play the first game "The Legend of Zelda" - had hoped to do it in one night, played a total of seven hours, but fell asleep just before entering the 9th and final temple. I'll return here when my last silver-arrow set stop for Ganon's evil!

+1

Ocarina of Time - A game dear to my heart, nothing can match it's magic!10/10

Majora's Mask - Different, cool but it just didn't feel like an important and magical quest (does this make any sense?)7/10

Wind Waker - 9/10 - Fantastic return to form, I love the story, graphics and everything, I'm currently replaying it all over again as I completed it years ago!

Twilight Princess - 8.5 - Yet again fantastic, am also in the middle of replaying it will pick up from where I left off after finishing WW again.

The SNES ones need more of my attention too. :D

I've played only Twilight princess and The oracle of Ages, though I own Windwaker and Ocarina of time. Want to start one of those someday soon! The Oracle of Ages was maybe my all-time favorite game!

Woah! Someone finally posted in this thread! :D

I completed the first Zelda game (NES), a few hours after that post above, and began with the "Second Quest" which is extremely difficult! Has anyone played it?

crazycrazy - A Link To The Past is a must!! Such an epic adventure.. Sinnec, that's a very odd choice as someones favourite - how come? :)

I have not played those 2 games yet, but I'm often reminded of how much I'd like to experience them.

I love watching Zelda Let's Plays on Youtube. Used to play it on my Gameboy in the Nineties.

It was the first Zelda game I played, and I totally loved it! Also I like the boss/dungeon and the variety of items there were!

I think it is a shame how Zelda fans seem to fail into discovering the inner core of what makes Majora's Mask such an spellbinding journey. It is undoubtedly my favourite game in the series, B - what's wrong with you? It's so dark, with so many details, side-quests, twisted.. and honestly very sad in many parts.

I have finished it around 5 times, and I experience something new everytime. Me and my friend can get drunk and watch Majora's Mask video clips for hours.

The music is the best in any Zelda game...

I've never played the Original NES game (yes I'm old enough and had a NES but just never bought it for some reason :s).

Never bought Majoras Mask either as I bought a Dreamcast and ignored my N64 at the time :-(

No, I don't have a Playstation or whatever you need to play the recent Zelda games. I prefer playing Dragon Age now.

Yes I do love the darkness and details the game has but it just didn't feel like an epic quest like the others did. I enjoy all of the games though, I just remember being a little disappointed with it. :-?

FINALLY! I saw new awesome pictures and a short review in RETRO, a Swedish video-games magazine, it looks pretty good. Much better than the early previews we got on youtube.

Instead of a land on water (Wind Waker), this time it will be above the clouds - if I understood it correctly. B - it's definetly time that you get on, there are some great games on the console.

I love it when they release new Zelda games in winter, around christmas.

:o wow I love the sound of that, I hope the story is a continuation from TP.

Link's Awakening (1993)

I have only played this game once, and that was when I was a little kid. I remember getting stuck after the first temple already, which was a shame since I enjoyed the game.

Playing it now again, and I understand why it's considered such a brilliant game by both fans and critics.

Plym, do you remember Level 3, the Key Cavern?

I finished it last night! I never expected this game to have so many nice puzzles in it. This temple was awesome! The music for it was equally great, listen!

I remember where I got stuck in this game, all those years ago, and I could only laugh at myself. Watch 4:20 - 4:30

(I did not knew there was a possibility of using the Boots and the Feather at the same time back then, to get over to the ladder. But this time, I understood it immediately.) :P

Oh yes!!!
I don't know how I managed to do those puzzles when I was 10 years old! They were fiendishly difficult.

I wish I could play the game again and relive my youth!
