Massive sales in the US

"Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye featuring Kimbra tops Hot Digital Songs, with sales of 542K. That's the biggest one-week sales tally so far this year, topping Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend," which started with sales of 521K two weeks ago. "Somebody…" dethrones "We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae from the top spot on the digital chart. Will it also replace it at #1 on the Hot 100? I really feel weird watching this song smash all over the globe now. Because last summer I saw this on top of Australia charts and wanted to check it out and I thought myself "wow this is song is great but there is no chance it would be a smash anywhere else!"

Two US #1 singles in a row that neither are electro-pop (I love EDM, but lets face it, LMFAO and Black Eyed Peas are to EDM what MC Hammer is to hip hop) nor has any urban appeal? We probably have to go back 20 or more years for this.

It was not only Glee. It was Glee, SNL plus The Voice and American Idol exposure thanks to contestants, all in one week.
